Hull City vs Bolton Wanderers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This New Year’s Day fixture )kick-off 15:00) features the in-form Hull who are in 14th entertaining Bolton who sit in 21st. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Hull won their fourth straight and stretched their unbeaten run to seven with an impressive 2-0 victory at leaders Leeds. Jarrod Bowen grabbed a brace to give the Tigers a victory their performance deserved.

Bolton stretched their unbeaten run to two matches as they battled out a goalless draw at home to Stoke. Wanderers were the better of the two sides but could not find that important breakthrough.

The reverse fixture came on October 27th at the Macron and it ended in a 1-0 road success for the Tigers. A Fraizer Campbell goal give them three points that they were a tad fortunate to get.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Hull are flying at the moment but they do not look backable here at such shorts odds. I could not though be taking them on with Bolton who I am not convinced by despite four points from their last two fixtures.

The Tigers have scored at least once in the first half of five of their last six and I think they look value to get a goal before the 44:00 minutes set by the market.

Bowen and Campbell both look good to score but at a slightly bigger price I like the look of Kamil Grosicki might not have as many as the other but the Pole is at the heart for most things City do well and I think he could have fun here.

Hull to score before 44:00

Hull City Preview

The Tigers run of 17 points from the last 21 on offer has moved them into 14th and they look safe from any relegation issues. The important thing for them in the January transfer window is to keep hold of that front three in Campbell, Bowen and Grosicki.

At the KC Stadium, the Humberside outfit have won their last two and lost just one of their last six. Just one of their 11 remaining matches at home comes against a team in the current top six.

Four of the last six Hull have played in the Championship have gone over 2.5 goals with the two that have not producing two. They have netted at least one in each of their last six and a combined 14 times from these six.

Hull City Team News

Angus MacDonald (calf) and James Weir (meniscus) are long-term absentees. Jackson Irvine will miss the next few weeks after leaving for the Asia Cup.

Bolton Wanderers Preview

Four points from the last two has moved the Trotters out of the bottom three but have still won just one of their last 15. They are in 21st and with no real money to spend will need to find free transfer and loan bargains.

Away from the Macron, the Lancashire outfit are without a win in ten and have taken just four points in this sequence. Mark Beevers has netted in two of the last four away from home.

Bolton have seen just one of their last four and two of their last 11 league games go over 2.5 goals. Just one of their last four and four of their last 12 have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Bolton Wanderers Team News

Andrew Taylor, Stephen Ireland (both calf) and Gary O’Neil (unknown) are doubts.
