Hull City vs Blackburn Rovers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides still looking for their first league victory of the season.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Hull progressed through in the League Cup after a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United and then defeating them on penalties. In their last league outing, they also drew 1-1 with a Sheffield team (this time Wednesday) thanks to a Frazier Campbell goal. Blackburn were comfortable winners in midweek as they defeated Carlisle 5-1 with a brace each for Bradley Dack and Adam Armstrong. They made it two draws from two last time out in the Championship battling out a 0-0 draw with Millwall. These two sides last did battle in January 2018 in the FA Cup at Ewood Park a game the Tigers won 1-0. Hovers have in fact failed to win any of their previous four meetings with the Humberside outfit.

Betting Tips and Predictions

These two sides sit 21st and 15th respectively though the expected goals data suggests that the visitors should in fact be top of the table. Given this and the fact that they hit five in midweek I think taking Blackburn with the draw no bet safety looks the way to go. Bradley Dack has three in three and yet he still looks a little over-priced so back him to score at any time.

Hull City Preview

The Tigers are six without a victory in the league over the start of this season and the end of the last one. Two of their last three and three of their last five have finished all-square with four of them seeing both teams net. At the KC Stadium, they have lost their last three including an opening day 3-1 loss to Aston Villa. The Humberside outfit have failed to find the back of the net in two of the last three and three of their last five in front of their own fans. Jarrod Bowen is averaging three shots per game this season but has yet to find the back of the net to build on his 14 from last season. Hull have netted first in all three (including the League Cup) matches this season but have not gone on to win any (discounting their midweek penalties victory).

Hull City Team News

James Weir (Meniscus) and Ondrej Mazuch (knee) are rated doubtful.

Blackburn Rovers Preview

Rovers sit first in the expected goals table but in the real table just 15th after two draws from two. If you add in the last time that they were in this division they are now unbeaten in seven in the Championship. Away from Ewood Park, it is now just one defeat in their last ten in all competitions with six victories. The Lancashire outfit have netted seven times in two on their travels when you add in the League Cup. Bradley Dack has started the season well and has found the back of the net three times from three in all competitions. Two of the three Blackburn have played have seen both teams net in the opening half.

Blackburn Rovers Team News

Elliott Bennett (shin), Sam Hart (thigh) and Derrick Williams (foot) are doubts while Ben Gladwin (knee) and Jacob Davenport (hip) are out for a month.
