Hull City vs Birmingham City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) game features two sides struggling at the wrong end of the Championship table.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Hull are now five without a victory after going down to a 2-1 defeat at home to Preston last time out. The Tigers netted through Jarrod Bowen and seem to be on course for a deserved point but North-End netted a winner a few minutes from time. Birmingham picked up only their second victory of the season and their first under caretaker boss Lee Carsley as they defeated Sheffield Wednesday 1-0. Isaac Vassell got the goal that day and helped them pick up three points that the performance probably did not deserve but Blues fans will not care. The last time these sides met at the KC Stadium was back in October 2015 in a game that ended 2-0 to the hosts. It marks a pattern with each of their last four head-to-heads being won by the home team.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I really like Birmingham here as they have showed improved signs under Lee Carsley and the difference between the two sides is low even allowing for home advantage. The draw is a real risk so take the security of the Blues in the draw no bet market. For a player who plays as part of a front three the price on Jacques Maghoma to score here looks too big. The Birmingham front man already has two for the season and should not be going off at double figure odds to net first.

Hull City Preview

The Tigers have taken just nine points from their first ten fixtures which seems in the bottom eight of the table. In their last five matches they have taken just two points and won just one of their last eight. At home, it has been a mixed bag with two victories, one draw and two defeats though it is just one point from their last two. Both teams to score is a feature of these matches with it happening in each of the last two and four of five. Jarrod Bowen has netted six times in the league this season and three in his last three in front of his own fans. 12 of the 16 they have scored have come at home while just seven of the 18 they have conceded have come at the KC Stadium.

Hull City Team News

Evandro (hamstring) will miss a few days while Moses Odubajo (broken kneecap), Abel Hernandez (Achilles), Kevin Stewart (ankle), Ryan Mason (skull fracture) and Will Keane (cruciate) are all out.

Birmingham City Preview

It is now four points from two games under caretaker boss Lee Carsley as the Blues have adjusted well since the loss of Harry Redknapp. They still sit in the bottom three of the table though with just eight points. On the road, it is just one point from five fixtures this season with just two goals netted and seven conceded. Just one of their five on their travels has gone over 2.5 goals and just two have seen both teams score. The average time of the first goal conceded is the 46th minute while the average time of the first goal scored is 38th minute. Six of the ten the Midlands side have played have been level at half-time.

Birmingham City Team News

Carl Jenkinson (dislocated shoulder) and Jason Lowe (hamstring) are day-to-day while Che Adams, Jota (both hamstring) and David Stockdale (broken wrist) are long-term absentees.
