Huddersfield Town vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Huddersfield Town lost a fifth consecutive league match after a 2-0 defeat against Newcastle. The home team were certainly better of the two, but they were given a major lift when Tom Smith was sent off in the 20th minute. Salomon Rondon capitalised on this numerical advantage by scoring just after half-time, while Ayoze Perez doubled the advantage just six minutes later. Newcastle struck the woodwork several times in the game. Wolves made it five games without a defeat after a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Joshua King’s penalty may have helped Bournemouth take a decisive lead but a late equaliser from Raul Jimenez – also from the spot – provided a point for the visitors. King went on to miss a penalty in the 86th minute.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Huddersfield boss Siewert has seen a couple of positives since taking over from David Wagner, but they have so far not been enough in order to help the club pick up some crucial points. Already, Huddersfield look adrift of safety due to a 14 point deficit to Cardiff. The club are now up against Wolves, who have been able to show an impressive sequence of results. There is even a likelihood of Wolves catching Chelsea, who are just 10 points ahead. I would go with a win for Wolves.

The game is likely to be a slow burner with Huddersfield not creating many opportunities. Wolves were able to extend the unbeaten sequence in the game against Bournemouth despite only managing two shots on target. Their recent scoring form has been much better and Huddersfield’s defensive struggles are likely to ensure over 1.5 goals for the visitors.

Huddersfield Town Preview

Jan Siewert has more issues on his hand after losing his first four matches in charge of the team. Huddersfield have been able to score a grand total of just one goal during this period. Meanwhile, the lack of goals continues to affect Huddersfield’s chances of avoiding relegation with the team increasingly getting adrift of safety. The lack of goals is turning into a huge problem so much so that the club has only picked up 14 league goals so far this season. At the other end, Huddersfield have now conceded 50 goals with only Fulham and Cardiff letting in more goals.

Huddersfield Town Team News

Eric Durm (hip), Isaac Mbenza (calf), and Adama Diakhaby (hamstring) are unavailable due to injuries while Tom Smith is suspended for the game.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

The impressive form shown by Wolves has helped them stay in touch with European qualification places. The club may not impress in terms of goalscoring statistics, but they have been able to provide a solid platform for the last few months of the season. Wolves have a tough run of games coming up with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United as their opponents. The counter-attacking style from Wolves has been able to benefit Raul Jimenez a lot with the striker now up to 10 goals for the campaign.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

There are no injuries or suspensions for the game.
