Huddersfield Town vs West Ham United Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Huddersfield Town finally concluded their winless run with a crucial 1-0 success over relegation rivals Fulham at the John Smith’s Stadium on Monday night. An own goal from Timothy Fosu-Mensah became the decisive goal for Huddersfield since the start of the campaign as it helped them get three points. West Ham were able to pick up a first win in five games after beating Burnley 4-2 at the London Stadium. The Hammers twice dropped the lead after goals from Marko Arnautovic and Felipe Anderson were cancelled out by Berg Gudmundsson and Chris Wood. However, West Ham came up with a deserved flurry of goals in the latter part of the game – through Anderson and Javier Hernandez – to put the game beyond doubt.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Huddersfield will take a huge deal of confidence from the win over Fulham but that may be unable to help them much in the home match against West Ham. Even though the Hammers are poor at the back, they have a forward line-up that was able to come up with more than 20 shots on goal against Burnley. A player like Felipe Anderson will be difficult to stop on good form. I expect West Ham to secure an away victory.

West Ham were subjected to a lot of nervousness against Burnley towards the closing stages. They ended up conceding twice against the Clarets. The goalless draw against Chelsea happens to be the only clean sheet for West Ham in the league this season. Even though Huddersfield required an own goal to win against Fulham, I would pick both teams to score in this game.

West Ham win – 6/5

Both teams to score – 19/20

Huddersfield Town saw over 1.5 goals in 3 out of their last 3 games played against West Ham United

West Ham United saw over 1.5 goals in 9 out of their last 10 games played

Huddersfield Town Preview

David Wagner described the victory over Fulham as the biggest win of his managerial career. Such was the importance of this victory, but Huddersfield need to build on the result with the club playing against the likes of West Ham, Brighton, and Wolves over the next three games. The Huddersfield team of last season would have secured more than five points from this run, and Wagner needs a similar outcome this time around in order to get out of the drop zone.

Huddersfield Town Team News

Eric Durm (groin) is the only player on the sidelines for Huddersfield.

West Ham United Preview

The Hammers continue to be plagued by a poor defensive performance, as they showed plenty of jitteriness in the 4-2 win over Burnley. The game could have easily ended as a high-scoring draw if Burnley had been more clinical. Pellegrini is still missing a large contingent of first-team players, and West Ham’s performances can only improve with the return of those names. Now, however, the focus is heavily on Arnautovic and Felipe Anderson – both players have been delivering the goods for the Hammers.

West Ham United Team News

Pellegrini is still without a huge list of first-team players unavailable. Mark Noble remains suspended for the game. Andrew Carroll (ankle), Xande Costa (hamstring), Robert Snodgrass (ankle), Andriy Yarmolenko (Achilles tendon), Carlos Sanchez (ligament), Jack Wilshere (ankle), Manuel Lanzini (ligament), and Winston Reid (ligament) are unavailable due to injuries.
