Huddersfield Town vs Nottingham Forest Match Prediction

By Charlotte Louise Bushell

Huddersfield Town v Nottingham Forest Match Prediction

Huddersfield and Nottingham Forest are two sides who try to play a nice passing game and as such this could be an enjoyable Boxing Day feast (15.00).  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

The Terriers were impressive last time as they went to fellow promotion hopefuls Norwich and beat them 2-1 thanks to two goals from Elias Kachunga. This victory moved them up to third in the Championship table a remarkable achievement against some of the divisional heavyweights.

Forest are down to 16th in the table after a 2-0 home to loss to Wolves last time out that means the East Midlands side are now without a win in their last three games. It has lead to defender Joe Worrall questioning the attitude of some of his fellow players.

Huddersfield Town Preview

It was a worrying week for Huddersfield fans as impressive young boss David Wagner was headhunted by Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. Wagner though promised that the job was not done and that he would be at the Yorkshire side for a while yet. That is great news as he has overseen a remarkable turn around in his time at the club and they were impressive against Norwich last time out playing football that would not look out of place in the top flight.

It is no surprise to see them odds on to win this game as their home form is excellent with seven wins, a draw and two losses from their ten games in front of their own fans this season with all seven of these wins coming by the one goal margin.

Nottingham Forest Preview

It has been an up and down season for Forest that started well with them winning three of their first games and sitting seventh at the end of August. Then followed a run of just one win in 11 games that saw a drop to 20th. Ten points from a possible 12 in November was an excellent run of form and one that suggested things were on the up.  A second-half collapse to Derby in the East Midlands Derby seemed to have shattered their confidence and with their next four games against sides in the top half they must wonder where their next win will come from.

Huddersfield Team News

Huddersfield will continue to be without injured trio Joe Lolley (foot), Mark Hudson (hamstring) and Sean Scannell (ankle).

Nottingham Forest Team News

The Tricky Trees have the deepest injury list in the division with ten players unavailable for selection. The nearest to returning are Nicklas Bendtner (illness) and Britt Assombalonga (hamstring). It is unclear how long Damien Parquis (concussion), Dani Pinillos (knee), Danny Fox (unknown) , Matt Fryatt (achiles) and Thomas Lam (knee) are out. Armand Traore (knee), Chris Cohen (groin) and Henri Lansbury (hamstring) are all expected to be out for another few months.

Betting Prediction and Tips

Huddersfield will be a popular bet though I find the odds a little short so I might look to enhance it. I talked before about their winning margin in home games always being by one goal so consider the Terriers to win by one goal.

The Yorkshire side looked good in the first half last time out and with a good mood swinging around the ground following the announcement by the manager back them to get out to a fast start so take Huddersfield/Huddersfield in the HT/FT market.
