Huddersfield Town Preview

What may first have been viewed as just a blip may now be on the verge of being diagnosed as something more serious after Huddersfield again failed to win, this time losing 2-0 away to Swansea City. Goals either side of half-time from Tammy Abraham confirmed a crucial win for Swansea, who in picking up the three points also moved just a place beneath Huddersfield in the table to 13th.What’s more worrying for the Terriers is that both of Abraham’s strikes were their opponents’ only efforts on target all game, while they themselves struggled to really threaten. It continued a similar trend for Huddersfield, who have now failed to score in any of their last four games in all competitions, conceding seven goals during that time and have drawn a blank in six of their last seven games. That came after a blistering start that saw Huddersfield win their first three games in the Premier League and Carabao Cup. It is games such as these which Huddersfield fans could only have dreamed of a decade or so ago, with this arguably the biggest game the club has had since winning promotion to the Premier League.

Huddersfield Town Team News

Michael Hefele (achilles), Kasey Palmer (hamstring) and Jon Gorenc-Stankovic (cruciate ligament) are all ruled out for Huddersfield here. Philip Billing (ankle) and Collin Quaner (calf) are both doubts.

Manchester United Preview

Jose Mourinho enjoyed a happy return home to Portugal on Wednesday evening after his side picked up a 1-0 victory away to Benfica to all but book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League. Marcus Rashford’s overhit free-kick forced an error from goalkeeper Mile Svilar, who inadvertently carried the ball over the line in what proved to be the game’s only goal. United look solid at the back once again in the victory, with David de Gea not facing a single effort on target in the 90 minutes, with a win over Benfica in their next group game at Old Trafford now booking their place in the knockout stages with two games to spare. As such, more energy and focus can be given to their Premier League campaign, as they now look to catch leaders Manchester City, who pulled two points clear of United last weekend following their 0-0 draw at Liverpool. Mourinho was widely criticised for his pragmatic tactics at Anfield, though we will not truly learn the value or costliness of such results until the end of the season. Ultimately, they are still unbeaten after eight games in the Premier League, though they face a tough back-to-back schedule the week after this, as they host Tottenham before travelling away to Chelsea the following weekend.

Manchester United Team News

Marcos Rojo (cruciate ligament), Paul Pogba (hamstring), Marouane Fellaini and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (both knee) are all missing. Eric Bailly and Michael Carrick are likely absentees with both nursing knocks.
