Huddersfield Town vs Manchester City Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner concluded his tenure at the club with a goalless draw against Cardiff City. It was a match which could have easily gone Huddersfield’s way given that the club were denied a valid last-gasp penalty shout. Manchester City were able to close the gap to Liverpool down to 4 points after a 3-0 success over Wolves at Etihad Stadium. Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring after 10 minutes and City’s task was made easier by Willy Boly receiving a straight red card in the 19th minute. Jesus converted a penalty just before half-time for his brace, while a late own goal from Conor Coady made the game safe for the home team.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Manchester City were able to achieve a thumping 6-1 victory against Huddersfield early in the campaign, but this match is likely to be much closer considering that City do not have the same kind of dominance in away matches. Huddersfield manager Hudson faces an improbable task of getting something out of this game and Huddersfield’s best bet will be to adopt a defensive approach. Even then, I would back over 3.5 goals from this match.

Gabriel Jesus has been in fine form over the last few weeks so much so that he has been able to get seven goals in just in the last three matches. Jesus can be expected to score anytime in the match.

Total goals over 3.5 – 11/10

Gabriel Jesus to score anytime – 4/6

Manchester City scored over 2.5 goals in 7 out of their last 10 games played

Manchester City have conceeded only 4 goals in their last 7 games against Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town Preview

Huddersfield have appointed Mark Hudson as the replacement for David Wagner, who struggled with the task of reviving the club from the start of the campaign. After a spectacular 2017-18 campaign, Huddersfield were always expected to struggle in this second season and the club have come up with the lowest goals after 22 games this season. Mark Hudson is unlikely to make significant changes to the team and their tactics – at least in the first few matches. Huddersfield will also look to make some valuable additions to the squad apart from the likes of Jason Puncheon. The lack of Mooy is a significant blow to Huddersfield’s creativity.

Huddersfield Town Team News

Abdelhamid Sabiri (broken collarbone), Daniel Williams (knee), and Aaron Mooy (ligament) are unavailable for Huddersfield.

Manchester City Preview

Manchester City remain in the hunt for the Premier League title with only four points separating them from the top of the table, but the club are once again at a disadvantage due to playing a day behind rivals Liverpool. City have been able to find an extra gear over the last few weeks and it is largely down to the form of Gabriel Jesus, who struggled to live up to the expectation in the first half of the campaign. Sergio Aguero has had niggling injury problems over the last few months, but Guardiola has found a way to get amazing results even without the Argentine superstar.

Manchester City Team News

Pep Guardiola will be without Claudio Bravo (Achilles tendon) and Marlos Moreno (groin) due to injuries.
