Huddersfield Town vs Leeds United Match Prediction

By Charlotte Louise Bushell

This Sunday lunchtime (12:00) clash looks to be a cracker and features two sides in the hunt for promotion as fifth-placed Huddersfield entertain fourth-placed Leeds. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

It was a big win for the Terriers on Thursday night as they handed Brighton only their fourth league defeat of the season coming out on top 3-1. Tommy Smith, Nahki Wells and Elias Kachunga got the goals for them.

Leeds come into this game on the back of a 2-1 midweek triumph at Blackburn with Stuart Dallas putting them ahead before they were pegged back and needed an 89th minute Pontus Jansson goal to seal all three points.

The away side has won the last four meetings between the pair including in September when they met at Elland Road and emerged victorious thanks to a goal from midfielder Aaron Mooy.

Huddersfield Preview

It is now three wins in a row and five in their last six in all competitions for Huddersfield who sat in fifth place following the results Thursday night. The gap between them and Newcastle was down to seven points, so hopes for automatic promotion are still alive.

It is five wins and one draw from their last six games at their own ground for the Terriers and in these matches, they scored 14 times and conceded just four. Both teams to score has happened in six of their last seven in front of their fans.

Nahki Wells is in a good run of scoring form with three in his last five and five in the last nine. Elias Kachunga netted in their last game to put to an end of six fixtures without scoring he will hope this is the start of a new scoring sequence.

Leeds Preview

It is four wins from the last five in the league and just one defeat in their last nine games for Leeds. They sat fourth ahead of the weekend fixtures and are also right in the mix for the automatic promotion spots.

It has been a mixed bag on the road for United in recent times with two wins, one draw and two defeats from their last five. One of the features of these away fixtures is that each of the last four have seen both teams score.

Chris Wood is the main man when it comes to goals for the Yorkshire side grabbing 17 this season and six in the last five league matches. Popular defender Pontus Jansson has three goals this season, and two of these have come in the last two League away ties.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Allowing for the home advantage I have trouble separating these sides and like the look of a draw in the match market.

Both teams to score would have paid in six of the last seven Huddersfield games and as such take the game to not just end in a draw, but to be a scoring draw. This bet is available in the winning margin market. This will cover a number of options including 1-1, 2-2 and 3-3.
