Huddersfield Town vs Crystal Palace Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Huddersfield Town were unable to capitalise on a numerical advantage over relegation rivals Swansea City, as they could only manage a goalless draw at the John Smith’s Stadium. Swansea were down to 10 men after just 11 minutes when Jordan Ayew was sent off. This completely closed the offensive game from Swansea. Despite having 30 shots at goal, Huddersfield were unable to find a way past the away team. Crystal Palace’s strong run against Chelsea ended with a 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge. Willian’s recent form extended with the Brazilian scoring the opening goal after 23 minutes. Martin Kelly inadvertently scored an own goal just seven minutes later. Even though a late goal from former blue Patrick van Aanholt provided a glimmer of hope, Chelsea held on for a win.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Huddersfield’s game against Swansea could have been different if not for the early red card. The lack of creativity within Huddersfield was cruelly exposed in the game. However, I expect Wagner’s team to sort out the attack just in time for this game. The defensive record for Palace stands at 12 goals conceded in the last six games. Such a disappointing record points to a good day in the office for strugglers Huddersfield. Meanwhile, Palace have scored in each of the last eight away games. I would choose both teams to score.

The game is a strong contender to experience goals at both ends. Even though majority of the recent games for Huddersfield have been low scoring, the contribution from Palace is likely to drive the total goals count. I would go with over 2.5 goals in total.

Huddersfield Town Preview

Huddersfield could have moved closer to its achieving safety had it not been for the two dropped points against Swansea. This would rank as one of the disappointing games for David Wagner this season, as the numbers were heavily in favour of the home team – apart from the goal. Huddersfield have picked up some crucial wins in the last five games. Similarly, a win over Swansea would have helped the club cement their place in the Premier League 2018-19 campaign. As it stands, there is a great chance of Huddersfield being sucked back into the bottom three as the team only has a four-point advantage over Palace.

Huddersfield Town Team News

Sean Scannell (shoulder) is the only injury worry for Huddersfield coming into the game.

Crystal Palace Preview

The recent downturn in form does not appear to be going away anytime soon, as Crystal Palace feel the pressure. The next couple of weeks could be extremely crucial in the club’s objective to avoid the drop. Apart from Huddersfield, the club are also up against the likes of Bournemouth and Watford in the next few games. Manager Roy Hodgson will target the maximum return of points. Palace have been quite poor back, while their attack leaves a lot to be desired.

Crystal Palace Team News

Jason Puncheon (cruciate ligament), Connor Wickham (cruciate ligament), Julian Speroni (knee), Scott Dann (cruciate ligament), Joel Ward (muscle), Bakary Sako (ankle), Yohan Cabaye (groin), and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (knee) are the players unavailable for Palace.
