Huddersfield Town vs Cardiff City Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Huddersfield Town were once again taken for a ride by a top opposition, as David Wagner’s men lost 6-1 against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Sergio Aguero was the star of the game and he came up with a hat-trick. Gabriel Jesus and David Silva combined together – along with an own goal from Terence Kongolo – to provide a big win for City. Cardiff City were able to pick up the first point of the season after managing a goalless draw with Newcastle United. It was a game of few chances but the likes of Kenneth Zohore were able to come close.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Cardiff have a rather strong record against Huddersfield after managing five wins in six. In fact, Huddersfield’s last victory over this opponent was way back in 2003 when both clubs were in League One. This time around, Huddersfield have home advantage to hold them in good stead. David Wagner’s men played reasonably well in the opener against Chelsea and the 3-0 score certainly flattered Maurizio Sarri’s men. I would opt for a Huddersfield win.

Neil Warnock’s men are yet to score a goal this season but they did come close on a few occasions. Huddersfield have been let down by a defence that has already conceded nine goals in two matches, but they are unlikely to face the same kind of threat against Cardiff. This match has the potential to end up as a low scoring game with less than 2.5 goals.

Huddersfield Town Preview

The second season in the Premier League is always a tough place for a newly promoted club and Huddersfield are going through the same syndrome. Even though the club have been hit hard with opening games against Chelsea and Manchester City, it will be difficult for Wagner to lift his players after conceding nine goals in the first two games of the season. Yet, Huddersfield’s defence has not functioned as badly as the numbers suggest. After having spent a decent amount of money in the summer, Wagner will be expecting better offensive contribution from his players.

Huddersfield Town Team News

Aaron Mooy, Daniel Williams (ankle), Zanka (thigh), and Jonathan Hogg (hip) are the players unavailable for David Wagner.

Cardiff City Preview

The start of the new campaign has been difficult for Cardiff City, who are yet to take a victory or score a goal in the 2018-19 Premier League season. Cardiff cannot afford to extend this form for much longer, as it can spell trouble for the team. The Welsh outfit have a mixed set of fixtures in the opening few weeks and they had to pick up maximum points from games against the likes of Newcastle and Huddersfield. Cardiff have to be quite fearful with three of the top six teams facing the Welsh team from the start of September. The biggest hope for Cardiff going forward may be the goals from Zohore.

Cardiff City Team News

David Hoilett (knock) and Aron Gunnarsson (knee) are the players unavailable for Warnock.
