Huddersfield Town vs Aston Villa Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

Can Huddersfield keep the pressure on the top two with victory on Tuesday evening (19:45). Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Aston Villa are unbeaten in the last six meetings between these two outfits winning two of them and the other four ended all square. The last time these sides met was in August and that game also saw the points shared. Ross McCormack gave Villa the lead but Huddersfield claimed a point thanks to an 86th minute effort from Michael Hefele.

Town saw their seven- game league run come to an end last time out at home to top of the table Newcastle. An Aaron Mooy 72nd minute penalty gave them hope after going two-nil but down but it was the Magpies who got the fourth and crucial goal to come out on top 3-1.

Aston Villa have won each of their last three games including a 2-0 victory at Rotherham last time out. The Midlands side took the lead through a Will Vaulks own goal with a Jonathan Kodjia late strike securing all three points.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Huddersfield lost to Newcastle last time out while Villa have won each of their last three.  These results have allowed the price on a home win to look more generous then it should.  Villa have played Derby, Rotherham and Bristol City which is a nice run of fixtures while Town ran into the Magpies at the wrong time. The home team have won 11 of their last 15 in the league and six of their last eight at home.  I think then it makes sense to take The Terriers to take all three points.

For the home team to win this game they probably need to fire more than one goal against a Villa side with firepower options.  Take them then to score over 1.5 goals which would have paid in seven of their 11 at home to sides outside the top ten.

Huddersfield Preview

It is six wins from their last eight for Huddersfield though they have gone two without a victory. Town sit in third place but will not have given up on second placed Brighton who are just six above them and have played a game more.

The Terriers are the second best ranked home team in the Championship and have lost just three in front of their own fans all season in the league. Wigan are the only none top six side to have won here in the league this season.

Five of the last seven league matches for the Yorkshire side have gone over 2.5 goals with six of these also seeing both teams scoring. Six of their 11 home ties against sides outside the top ten have seen Town come out on top 2-1. Five of their last six have seen a goal scored in the last 15 minutes.

Aston Villa Preview

After a run of nine without a victory Aston Villa have bounced back once more with three straight victories to put an end to concerns that they would get sucked into a relegation battle. They now sit 13th which is some 11 points above the team currently in 22nd.

It is just two wins from the last 11 away games for Villa and just three in the entire season. They have scored a total of just four goals in their ten away trips to teams in the top half of the table.

The Midlands side have the worst-ranked away attack in the Championship with just ten goals scored all season. Just one of the last six Villa fixtures have gone over 2.5 goals with a clean sheet being kept by at least one side in the same number. They have scored a first-half goal in just one of their last four.
