Houston Dynamo vs Chicago Fire Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Houston are out of the running for the top two places in the MLS Western Conference table after a goalless draw with Sporting Kansas City. Despite this result, manager Wilmer Cabrera will be reasonably pleased with the outcome considering that Houston have been poor on the road throughout the season and they were able to take a point against their direct rivals. Chicago Fire produced a brilliant performance to beat Philadelphia Union 3-2 at home. A hat-trick from Nemanja Nikolic was able to prevent goals from Joshua Kappelhof (own goal) and Alejandro Bedoya from affecting their push for the top two places. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Chicago Fire have won two out of the recent three meetings with Houston, but both these victories have been at the Toyota Park. An incredible four out of the recent six meetings between the two clubs at the BBVA Compass stadium has finished as a draw. A stalemate is not a good result for Chicago and they will be pushing for a win. Houston will be able to capitalise on the gaps left behind, as the team are strong at home. I would go with a win for Houston. Despite a mediocre away record, Chicago Fire have failed to score only once in the last nine away games. Houston Dynamo are without a clean sheet in the last four matches at home. Both teams are expected to score, but I do not see Chicago scoring more than 1.5 goals even with their push for a victory. I would bet on Chicago Fire to score under 1.5 goals.

Houston Dynamo Preview

Houston Dynamo are a strong outfit at home and will be glad to have the final regular-season match at the BBVA Compass stadium, where they have achieved 11 wins in 16 games. The team has lost just once at home and it will help the team maintain their momentum ahead of the play-offs. Irrespective of the result in the last game, Houston will be finishing in the top six due to their four-point advantage over seventh-placed FC Dallas and eighth-placed Real Salt Lake. Erick Torres is the top scorer for Houston with 14 goals.

Houston Dynamo Team News

Houston Dynamo will be without Boniek Garcia (knee), George Malki (cruciate ligament), and Jose Guillermo Rodriguez (knee) due to injury.

Chicago Fire Preview

The victory over Philadelphia Union keeps Chicago Fire’s hopes of finishing in the top two places of the Eastern Conference still alive. The team are now just one point behind New York City and could still finish in the second spot – despite playing on the road in the final game of the regular season. One of the disappointments for the club has been on the road after managing only four wins from 16, but there are signs of improvement with the team managing two wins in the last three away games. A huge positive factor for Chicago Fire will be the form of Nemanja Nikolic, who is now the league’s top scorer with 24 goals.

Chicago Fire Team News

Christian Dean (foot), Jorge Bava (elbow), Michael de Leeuw (cruciate ligament), John Goossens (ankle), Daniel Johnson (ligament), Bastian Schweinsteiger (thigh), and Juninho (knee) are the players unavailable for Veljko Paunovic.
