Hoffenheim vs Ingolstadt Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Hoffenheim will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga to three games when they welcome Ingolstadt at the WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena on Saturday afternoon. Hoffenheim only managed a 1-1 draw on the road at Schalke 04 last time out thanks to a late goal from Sebastian Rudy. On the other hand, Ingolstadt lost 0-2 at home at the hands of Borussia Moenchengladbach, despite they had a better ball possession and more goal attempts than the visitors. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Although they have struggled for fluency in this early part of the new year, Hoffenheim have been impeccable in front of their own fans since the start of the season. They are undefeated in eleven home fixtures in the Bundesliga this season and have won their three home meetings with Ingolstadt in all competitions. This having been said, I’m backing Hoffenheim to grab all three points and to keep a clean sheet in this one.

Hoffenheim Preview

Hoffenheim were unbeaten in 16 league outings in the first half of this Bundesliga campaign, but they have been a completely different side in this early part of 2017. They have suffered two defeats at the hands of RB Leipzig and Wolfsburg over the past month, and only managed a 1-1 away draw at Schalke 04 last weekend. Sandwiched in-between these results, they picked up victories over Mainz 05 and Darmstadt without conceding a single goal in the process. Despite the recent struggle, Hoffenheim still find themselves in a comfortable 4th position in the Bundesliga table with 38 points after 22 rounds, just two points off the 3rd-placed Borussia Dortmund. Keeping the ball out of their own net has been the main reason for Hoffenheim’s great performances throughout the season, as they hold the second joint best defensive record in the division with just 22 goals conceded in 22 rounds. Hoffe also looked good at the other end of the pitch, as they hold the 4th best attacking record in the division, scoring 39 goals in 22 league outings. Despite their struggle in this early part of the new year, Hoffenheim are still undefeated in front of their own fans this season, winning six and drawing five of their eleven home league fixtures. Sandro Wagner is leading the club’s goalscoring charts with 10 goals under his belt, while Andrej Kramaric and Mark Uth have bagged 12 goals and 8 assists between them.

Ingolstadt Preview

Ingolstadt, on the flip side, have endured a mixed run of form in this early part of 2017, registering four defeats and two victories in their six league outings after the winter break. They picked up a 0-2 win on the road at Eintracht Frankfurt a fortnight ago, but they succumbed to a 0-2 home loss at the hands of Borussia Moenchengladbach last time out. This leaves Ingolstadt only in 17th position in the Bundesliga table with 18 points after 22 rounds, just four points behind safety. Scoring goals has definitely been Ingolstadt’s biggest problem throughout this Bundesliga campaign as they hold the second worst attacking record in the division, scoring just 19 goals in 22 league outings. Lucas Hinterseer, Almog Cohen, Dario Lezcano and Markus Suttner have been Ingolstadt’s most prolific players in front of goal so far this season, as they bagged 12 goals and five assists between them. Away from home, Ingolstadt have only won four of their last 13 games across all competitions, but they enter the fray on a high following their 0-2 win at Eintracht Frankfurt in their most recent league trip. The bad news is that Ingolstadt have suffered defeats in each of their three visits to the WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena, scoring just two goals in this term.
