Hoffenheim vs Hertha Berlin Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Hoffenheim will experience the dreaded Thursday-Sunday match for the first time this season on Sunday as they host Hertha Berlin, who are also doing the same, in the Bundesliga. Hoffenheim come in off the back of a 2-0 win over Bayern Munich last weekend and a 1-2 loss against Sporting Braga in the Europa League on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hertha Berlin drew 1-1 with Werder Bremen last weekend and then faced Athletic Bilbao at home on Thursday in the Europa League, and they drew 0-0. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Hoffenheim won home and away last season against Hertha, and that makes it three wins in a row for them dating back to 2016. Those wins have taken them two wins clear of the Berlin side in the head to head battle. Just two draws have been played out down the years. Since both sides are in Europa League action on Thursday, neither team will be at a big disadvantage. Hoffenheim have got to be favorites as Hertha are not very strong away from Berlin, and also because of how well they played against Bayern at home last weekend.

Hoffenheim to win at 8/11

Kramaric to score, as he did twice in the most recent meeting, is at 9/1.

Hoffenheim Preview

Hoffenheim may well have fell to Liverpool both home and away in the Champions League, and then suffered a quick hangover in a draw with Bayer Leverkusen, but they rebounded in a very big way after the international break. Hoffenheim came out and defeated Bayern Munich at home for the second time running to humble the defending champions and show exactly why Hoffenheim are who they are and why they have gotten so far.  Marc Uth continued his scoring tear with goals in either half for his team. The first came after 27 minutes, and the second came in the 51st minute to give them victory last Saturday. On Thursday, they faced off with Braga in the Europa League. They would lose 1-2 at home in a bit of a surprise there. Sandro Wagner's opening goal in the 24th minute looked like getting them into the break in the lead, but Joao Teixeira's first half stoppage time equalizer prevented that. Five minutes after the break, Dyego Sousa scored what proved to be the winner.

Hoffenheim Team News

Julian Nagelsmann has injuries to center back Stefan Posch, left midfielder Steven Zuber, and striker Adam Szalai that are keeping them out at the moment.

Hertha Berlin Preview

Hertha Berlin have made it to the Europa League after their exploits at home last season, but they will feel a little annoyed at how they have played so far this season. After defeating newly promoted Stuttgart at home, they fell away to Borussia Dortmund. That's not an awful, or unexpected thing, but their home draw against Werder Bremen was annoying. They drew 1-1 with them, and Bremen are officially a bogey side for them now. Hertha had led through Matthew Leckie, who scored his third in three matches, after 38 minutes. But Thomas Delaney had other plans, and his 59th-minute goal ultimately earned his team a share of the spoils. On Thursday, they welcomed Athletic Bilbao into the Olympiastadion and they drew 0-0.

Hertha Berlin Team News

Goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann, son of Jurgen, remains sidelined along with forwards Julien Schieber and Davie Selke. In-form man Matthew Leckie was rested for much of Thursday's match, so he should be very fresh here.
