Hoffenheim vs Braga Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Hoffenheim will be looking for their first European victory of the season when they welcome Braga at the WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena to take on Braga on Thursday afternoon in the Europa League group C opener. Hoffenheim head into this tie high on confidence following their impressive 2-0 home win over Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga at the weekend, with Mark Uth scoring a brace. On the contrary, Braga suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat on the road at Setubal in the Primeira Liga at the weekend, with Abel Ferreira’s men conceding both goals in the first half. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Hoffenheim have been impeccable on home soil over the past year, as they are undefeated in the last 17 games in the Bundesliga. They have won their both home games in the Bundesliga so far this season, keeping a clean sheet in each of these. However, Braga should be able to find the back of the net in this one as they have scored at least once in six of their last seven away games across all competitions. Here are our best two betting tips for this clash:

Hoffenheim Preview

Hoffenheim finished fourth in the Bundesliga table last term to book their place in the Champions League play-offs this season. They were unlucky to be drawn against Liverpool as they lost both home and away at the hands of the Premier League club. Following their two-legged tie against Liverpool, Hoffenheim have been handed an accessible group against the likes of Braga, Ludogorets and Istanbul Basaksehir. This is their first appearance in a European competition and despite they have lost their first two European games against Liverpool, they now have a great opportunity to pick up their first victory. Hoffenheim are currently on a great run of form as they kicked off the new Bundesliga campaign brightly, winning two and drawing one of their opening three league fixtures. Their impressive form culminated with a 2-0 home win over the Bundesliga reigning champions Bayern Munich at the weekend. At home, Hoffenheim are undefeated in 17 games in the Bundesliga, having scored at least two goals in ten of these. They have won each of their two Bundesliga home games this season, conceding none in the process. Mark Uth and Andrej Kramaric have both been in fine shape in this early part of the campaign as the pair bagged five goals and one assist between them. Mark Uth has also scored two goals against Liverpool in the Champions League play-offs, and to score anytime at odds 6/4 look great value.

Hoffenheim Team News

Sandro Wagner, Stefan Posch and Kevin Vogt are all doubts, but Serge Gnabry is out through injury.

Braga Preview

On the contrary, Braga have endured a mixed run of form over the past two months, registering two draws, three defeats and five wins in their last ten games across all competitions. Braga looked decent throughout the Europa League qualifiers, beating the likes of AIK and Hafnarfjordur. The bad news is that Braga have lost their most recent two games in the Primeira Liga, having failed to score a single goal in the process. Braga currently sit only in 9th spot in the Primeira Liga table tied on six points with other two teams, already six points behind the top four. Braga have only won two of their eleven Europa League games prior to their back-to-back victories over AIK and Hafnarfjordur in the current campaign. The good news is that Braga are unbeaten in their last four away games in the Europa League, scoring two goals in each of these. Their recent away form has seen them winning three of their last four games across all competitions, scoring six goals in the process. Braga have now reached the Europa League group stage for a third time in a row, but their best performance in the competition was reaching the final in the 2010/11 season.

Braga Team News

Wilson Eduardo, Tiago Pereira and Jose Carlos Coentrao Marafona are all missing through injury, while Mauro is a doubt. The good news is that Araujo Ferreira Ricardo is back in training.
