Hibernian vs Hearts Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Hibernian fell to a 4-2 loss against Celtic in the League Cup action during the weekend. This was the second consecutive loss for the club following their 1-0 defeat against Aberdeen in the most recent SPL game. Gary Mackay Steven came up with the only goal of the game seven minutes before half-time to give the away team three points. Hearts continued their revival under Craig Levein with a 1-0 win over St Johnstone. After failing to unlock the opposition for much of the game, Hearts were relieved to see Kyle Lafferty’s shot go into the net in the 74th minute with the aid of a heavy deflection. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Hibernian and Hearts have not met each other in a league match for the last couple of years. Hearts will be coming into the game with decent confidence after having claimed three wins in the last five, while Hibernian are on a run of back-to-back losses. Yet, Hibernian have been involved in three draws over the last five league matches. The mediocre form of Hibernian coupled with Hearts being on their travels is likely to see this game end up as a stalemate. Anthony Stokes has scored at least a goal in three out of the last two matches at the Easter Road stadium. The striker was able to end his three-game goal drought with a penalty against Celtic in the League Cup. I would go with Stokes to score anytime in the game.

Draw – 5/2
Anthony Stokes to score anytime – 8/5

Hearts saw over 1.5 goals in 8 out of their last 10 games played

Hibernian Preview

There have been signs of Hibernian’s form slipping away in recent weeks with the team managing just one victory in the last five. Consequently, they have dropped out of the top six and into the relegation zone. Neil Lennon would have been extremely pleased with the start to the season, but a string of three away game in the last five league matches is likely to shoulder most of the blame for this poor run of form. Anthony Stokes has been a star presence in the Hibernian team with the former Blackburn Rovers forward scoring four goals in nine games.

Hibernian Team News

Liam Fontaine (ankle) and Darren McGregor (knee) are the players unavailable for Hibernian.

Hearts Preview

Hearts will be reasonably pleased with the recent run of form that has placed the club back into the top six of the table. Last season, the team were only able to narrowly preserve their place in the top six. Since the arrival of Craig Levein, the performances and results of the club has had a drastic improvement. The game against St Johnstone also produced a first clean sheet for the team in the last five matches. Hearts are hoping that the next few weeks produce a major jump in the SPL position with the team playing at home in four out of the next five matches. Kyle Lafferty is the leading scorer for the club with four in nine this season.

Hearts Team News

Arnaud Djoum (ligament), Don Cowie (calf), and Aaron Hughes (knee) are the players unavailable for Hearts.
