Hertha Berlin vs Schalke 04 Match Prediction

By William Hall

Two of the Bundesliga's out of form sides go head to head this weekend at Hertha Berlin welcome Schalke to the Olympiastadion Berlin Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Hertha Berlin have been able to win just once in their last five Bundesliga's outings coming into this one but did manage to come from behind to draw with Bayern Munich in their most recent match. Schalke are without a win in three, losing two in that time. They were able to get a point at home to Bayer Leverkusen a couple of weeks ago but will be looking to go one better this weekend. Read on for a full match preview complete with all our best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Although Hertha Berlin haven't been at their best, they have been picking up points from a lot of draws. Schalke have been struggling to pick up any points bar their last game which makes me think Berlin will come into this game feeling the more confident. The draw with Bayern Munich last time out would have filled the home side with so much confidence coming into this game which would see them go and kick on for the rest of the season. Schalke are still looking for a result to get their season up and with the away team struggling to string a good result together, I struggle to see them bouncing back with a bang this weekend. In all of the last three meetings between these two teams, they home team has one by the exact scoreline of 2-0. With the form both sides are in coming into this one, I can see the home team coming out on top because at this stage they are scoring a lot more goals than their opponents.

Hertha Berlin Preview

Hertha Berlin will be slightly disappointed with the start they have had to the season after dropping points to the likes of Mainz and Werder Bremen. However, coming from 2-0 down to Bayern Munich to get a point in their last game could prove to be a massive turning point in their season. The game looked out of sight for the home side as Robert Lewandowski made it 2-0 to Bayern Munich just after halftime. However a goal from Duda just two minutes later turned the game in the home teams favour and with Kalou got the equaliser five minutes later, it seemed as if they would go on to get all three points, but they will defiantly be happy with the point. Australian midfielder Mathew Leckie has been in fine form this season, scoring four goals in seven games. For a midfielder to get that many goals impressive and will go a long way in Hertha's season.

Hertha Berlin Team News

Hertha Berlin will be without four player this weekend with Julian Schieber (knee injury), Sebastian Langkamp (calf injury), Valentin (Stocker (knee injury) and Vedad Ibisevic (suspension) all sidelined.

Schalke 04 Preview

Schalke have struggled of late losing two of their last three games and drawing the other. This has seen them slip down the Bundesliga table very quickly which wouldn't have been on the cards for Schalke manager Tedesco. A 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich seemed to have rocked them as they then went on to lose away to Hoffenheim before drawing at home to Bayer Leverkusen. They looked lucky to get a point in that game with Leverkusen dominating all stats in the game apart from the one that matters. There is no doubt that Schalke need to improve and quickly if they are going to start putting pressure on the top teams in the league. Schalke seem to struggle massively away from home, winning just once in their last five outings. I wouldn't be surprised to see them fall short again this weekend.

Schalke 04 Team News

Schalke will be without seven for the trip to Berlin with Alessandro Schopf (back injury), Franco Di Santo (knee injury), Jorge Andujar Coke (knee injury), Nabil Bentaleb (groin injury), Pablo Insua (rib injury), Donis Avdijaj (ankle injury) and Weston McKennie (thigh injury) all out.
