Hertha Berlin vs Ingolstadt Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Hertha Berlin will look to put their Bundesliga campaign back on track when they welcome Ingolstadt at the Olympiastadion Berlin on Saturday afternoon. Hertha Berlin were narrowly beaten 2-1 on the road at Freiburg last time out, with their consolation goal being scored in the last two minutes of the game by Julian Schieber. On the flip side, Ingolstadt managed a 3-1 home victory over Hamburger SV, thanks to two first-half goals from Pascal Gross and Markus Suttner and one penalty goal from Almog Cohen in the second half. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Hertha Berlin Preview

Hertha Berlin have struggled for fluency over the past two months, losing four of their last five games in the Bundesliga. They picked up a 2-0 home win over Darmstadt towards the end of 2016 but kicked off the new year in a disappointing manner. Hertha suffered back-to-back away defeats at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen and Freiburg, conceding five goals and scoring just two in the process. Despite their poor run of form, Hertha still find themselves in a comfortable 6th spot in the Bundesliga table with 30 points after 18 rounds, just two points off the 3rd-placed Eintracht Frankfurt. Furthermore, Hertha still have one of the meanest defences in the division, having conceded just 21 goals in 18 league fixtures. Their home form has been the main reason for their good performances throughout this Bundesliga campaign, as they have won seven of their eight home league fixtures. In addition, Hertha have scored at least two goals in seven of their eight home games in the Bundesliga. Furthermore, Hertha are unbeaten in their three home meetings with Ingolstadt in all competitions, winning two and drawing once in this term. Vedad Ibisevic is Ingolstadt's top scorer at the moment with 8 goals and 3 assists in his 17 appearances in the Bundesliga.

Ingolstadt Preview

Meanwhile, Ingolstadt have finally returned to winning ways last weekend thanks to a comfortable 3-1 home victory over Hamburger SV. Their form over the past two months has been a complete mixed bag with three victories and two defeats in their last five league matches. They still find themselves in a perilous situation as they sit only in 16th spot in the league table with 15 points to their name after 18 rounds. Ingolstadt looked disorganised at both ends of the pitch throughout the season, as they only scored 17 goals in 18 rounds while conceding 29 in the process. Almog Cohen, Markus Suttner and Dario Lezcano are Ingolstadt’s joint topscorers at the moment, having scored three goals each so far. The away form has also been a problem, as Ingolstadt only picked up two victories from their nine league trips so far this season while losing six in the process. Their recent away form has seen them losing two and winning two of their last four Bundesliga outings. The most worrying fact is that Ingolstadt are winless in their seven meetings with Hertha Berlin in all competitions, losing four and drawing three in this term.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Despite the recent struggle, Hertha Berlin are a dominant side in front of their fans, while Ingolstadt only won two of their nine away league games so far this season. Furthermore, Hertha Berlin are undefeated in their three home meetings with Ingolstadt in all competitions. This having been said, I’m backing Hertha to grab all three points and to keep a clean sheet.
