Hearts vs Kilmarnock Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Hearts step into this match on the back of two consecutive losses, as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Rangers during the weekend. Despite taking the lead through Kyle Lafferty’s stunning free-kick in the 24th minute, Hearts could not keep a manager-less Rangers at bay. Goals from Kenny Miller (2) and Josh Windass were able to get a win for the away team. Kilmarnock suffered a first loss of the Steve Clarke era after losing 3-0 against Hibernian. Kilmarnock did have several opportunities in the game, but weak defending allowed John McGinn, Simon Murray, and Martin Boyle to provide a resounding victory for the away team.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Hearts are up against a Kilmarnock outfit winless in the last three league matches. Even then, Kilmarnock have produced some good performances of late, but the overall record against Hearts is rather poor with just one win in the last six. Hearts have been able to claim three victories in the last five matches. This coupled with the strong performance displayed in the early exchanges against Rangers are enough to make me back a win for Hearts.

Kyle Lafferty has been in great form after scoring two goals in the last three league matches to take his overall tally to five for the season. Lafferty predominately faced Motherwell during his time at Rangers and he was also able to come in with a hat-trick during the 2010-11 campaign. I would bet on Lafferty to score anytime in the game.

Hearts Preview

Hearts continue to remain on the edge of the top six places, as the club have been unable to make that decisive push. The performances and results has certainly improved since Craig Levein came to the club as the new manager to replace Ian Cathro. However, the recent run of three defeats in the last five matches is threatening to take the wind out of Hearts. The club, though, can look forward to a string of five consecutive matches at the new Murrayfield stadium, although this run started off in a poor fashion with the heavy loss against Rangers during the weekend. Kyle Lafferty is now the Hearts top scorer this season with five goals in 11 appearances.

Hearts Team News

Aaron Hughes (hamstring) is the only player on the sidelines for the Hearts.

Kilmarnock Preview

Kilmarnock did well to go on a run of three games without defeat, and it has helped the club move away from the bottom places of the Scottish Premier League 2017-18 table. Clarke will urge his team not to take too much from the loss against Hibernian, as his team played reasonably well to get a win on any other day. The club will be looking to take more positives out of the draws with the Rangers and Celtic in the last three matches. Despite struggling for points so far this season, the game against Hibernian witnessed the first time Kilmarnock conceding more than 2.5 goals in a league match this season.

Kilmarnock Team News

Steve Clarke is missing Steven Smith (knee) due to injury.
