Hearts vs Kilmarnock Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Hearts surrendered meekly to a 2-0 defeat against Rangers at Ibrox stadium. Jamie Murphy provided the hosts with a decisive lead just before half-time, while Rangers added a late second goal through Russell Martin to inflict a first defeat in four games for Craig Levein’s team. Kilmarnock’s winning sequence came to an end following a 2-2 draw with Hibernian. Neil Lennon’s team raced to a 2-0 lead inside the opening 10 minutes after goals from Florian Kamberi and Ryan Porteous. Steve Clarke’s men staged an impressive second-half comeback with goals from Jordan Jones and Kris Boyd – who scored in the space of just three minutes.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The home form for Hearts has been quite brilliant with the team managing to avoid defeat in nine consecutive league games at the Tynecastle stadium. The club’s defensive approach has worked extremely well. Kilmarnock have been excellent since December, but the team has managed just one away win in four. Their away games against Hearts have produced just one win in four. I can see this game heading towards a stalemate. Hearts were able to limit Rangers down to just two goals owing to a strong defensive display, which has been their standout element over the last couple of months. Just one of the last nine league matches at the Tynecastle stadium has produced more than 2.5 goals. I would back under 2.5 goals in this game.

Hearts Preview

Hearts have been relatively comfortable in the top five places for much of the campaign. The appointment of Craig Levein earlier in the campaign has worked like a dream, as he has made Hearts tough to beat under all scenarios. The team has especially been strong at the Tynecastle stadium, where they are unbeaten in nine games. At the same time, Hearts can use a couple of victories in order to avoid the pressure from Kilmarnock. Hearts have picked up only two wins in the last six games. Kyle Lafferty is the club’s top scorer with nine goals in 25 games.

Hearts Team News

Malaury Martin (tendon), Rory Currie (ligament), Jamie Brandon (cruciate ligament), Danny Amankwaa (training deficit), and Arnaud Djoum (Achilles tendon) are the names unavailable for selection.

Kilmarnock Preview

The unbeaten run for Kilmarnock now stretches to five matches in all competitions. In fact, the away defeat against Aberdeen is the only loss suffered by the Killies since December. This amazing run of form has led to the team making a push for the top four places, although the draw with Hibernian has to be a blow with regard to this objective. Still, Kilmarnock can realistically hope to sustain a place in the top five, as they trail Hearts by just two points but still have two games in hand. The goals from Kris Boyd continue to drive the team, and the veteran forward has scored 12 goals this season.

Kilmarnock Team News

Steven Smith (back) and Gordon Greer (calf) are the names unavailable for Steve Clarke.
