Hearts vs Hibernian Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Hearts transformed their home form into away matches after getting a goalless draw at St Johnstone. There were limited clear-cut opportunities for both outfits, but Hearts were surprisingly the better team of the two. The only big moment in the game came when Harry Cochrane was sent off in the 78th minute. Hibernian picked up a first win in four games after beating Ross County 2-1 at the Easter Road stadium. Craig Curran’s opening goal in the 14th minute was quickly cancelled out as Anthony Stokes came up with the equaliser seven minutes later. Oliver Shaw’s second-half goal provided the winner in the game. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Hearts are unbeaten in the last six home games against Hibernian. Despite this strong record, even Hearts are without a victory in the last three home games against Hibernian. Over the last few weeks, Hearts have managed some impressive home wins, but they are up against Hibernian’s strong away record. While the recent trip to the Pittodrie Stadium ended in a heavy defeat for Hibernian, I would expect Lennon’s team to get a draw out of this match. Hibernian may not be in the best of form, but the team has scored in each of the 10 away matches this season. They are up against a Hearts outfit that has kept four consecutive clean sheets, but there is a greater possibility of this run being about to end. Hibernian have failed to score only once in the last four trips to the Tynecastle stadium.

Hearts Preview

Hearts are aiming for an eighth game without a defeat in the SPL, as the team has been in good shape over the last two months. Since the home defeat against Kilmarnock at the start of November, Hearts have gone on an incredible run, which has seen them create history by beating Celtic 4-0 at the Tynecastle stadium. A lot of this good form has to do with the club’s performances at the revamped stadium, and manager Craig Levein will be delighted to return to home comforts for the last time in 2017. The good form has been down to a strong defence, which has now kept four consecutive clean sheets. At the other end, Kyle Lafferty has scored the most goals with seven in 19 matches.

Hearts Team News

Craig Levein will be without Malaury Martin (knee), Lewis Moore (calf), Rory Currie (ligament), Arnaud Djoum (Achilles tendon), and Ashley Smith-Brown (groin) due to injuries.

Hibernian Preview

The victory over Ross County comes at a crucial time for Hibernian, as the team were looking at a potential fourth consecutive match without a victory. Even though Neil Lennon will be aware that his team have faced the top three teams from the division in the run, a return of just one point from four matches would have been close to disastrous. As it stands, Hibernian have been able to narrow the deficit to Rangers while staying ahead of Kilmarnock with a sizable advantage. A big positive for the club is Anthony Stokes, who is now up to 7 goals, once again finding his scoring touch.

Hibernian Team News

Ross Laidlaw (shoulder) is the only player on the sidelines for Hibernian.
