Hearts vs Celtic Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Hearts are finally starting to rack up the home wins with the latest being a 2-0 success over Dundee. Esmael Goncalves provided the opening goal in the 30th minute with a fine finish, while Christophe Berra made Hearts enjoy a second consecutive home win with a 77th minute goal. Celtic brushed aside concerns about home form with a 3-1 win over Hamilton. Jules Ntcham’s opening goal in the 12th minute was cancelled out by Daniel Redmond in the 29th minute. However, Celtic scored twice – through James Forrest and Scott Sinclair – in the space of two minutes to put the game beyond any doubt. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The Celtic outfit have been quite excellent on the road this season with seven wins from nine games, but they have drawn the last two away matches. Hearts may have picked up back-to-back wins at home, but they are coming up against a Celtic team which has beaten them in seven straight matches. Craig Levein is likely to be realistic and aim for a point from this game. The last stalemate between these two teams was also at the Tynecastle stadium in 2015. I would place money on a draw.

Esmael Goncalves and Kyle Lafferty have contributed 12 of the 17 goals scored by Hearts this season. As long as these players are available for the game, Hearts have a great chance of scoring a few goals. In fact, Esmael Goncalves came up with the consolation when these two teams met each other in August. Celtic’s scoring record continues to be outstanding with 16 goals in the last six games. I see value in placing money on both teams to score.

Hearts Preview

After having gone a couple of matches without a win at the new Tynecastle stadium, Hearts have been left with back-to-back wins. Crucially, these victories have also been joined by back-to-back clean sheets. It has helped Hearts move to the fifth spot of the SPL 2017-18 table by displacing Motherwell. There are still four matches in December for Hearts and it presents them with an excellent opportunity to aim for the fourth spot, as Hibernian are now just six points ahead. Hearts have had the best defensive record in the last six games after conceding just four goals. Esmael Goncalves has now joined Kyle Lafferty at the top of the Hearts scoring chart with six goals.

Hearts Team News

Aaron Hughes (calf) is the only player on the sidelines for Hearts manager Craig Levein.

Celtic Preview

Celtic came up with a big score to beat Hamilton quite comfortably, but there are still concerns about the team – unlike last season. Celtic’s biggest worry at this point is the lack of clean sheets. The weak defensive record means that the last clean sheet for Celtic in any competition was against Motherwell in the League Cup final, while the last SPL clean sheet was in the middle of November against Ross County. The large number of goals conceded by Brendan Rodgers’ outfit has provided confidence for the opposition. Scott Sinclair is the top scorer at Celtic with eight goals in 16.

Celtic Team News

Patrick Roberts (hamstring) and Tony Ralston (knee) are the players on the sidelines for Celtic.
