Hamilton Academical vs St.Johnstone Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Hamilton extended their unbeaten run to a remarkable six matches after a 1-1 draw with Hearts during the weekend. Even though Jamie Walker put Hearts in front despite a red card for Jamie Brandon, Hamilton were not behind for much period in the game. Xavier Tomas equalised from a set piece in the 69th minute to get a point for Hamilton. St Johnstone were unable to build on the impressive win over Hibernian after losing 2-1 against Kilmarnock. Stuart Findlay opened the scoring after just 10 minutes, but St Johnstone were level when Steve MacLean equalised just before half-time. Kilmarnock were able to restore the lead in the 66th minute through Eamonn Brophy. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The strong home record for Hamilton coupled with their unbeaten run makes them as a strong favourite for this game. St Johnstone have been equally struggling for form with no improvement in sight. These teams have met each other three times in 2017 and the home team has come out successful on all occasions. I would go with a victory for Hamilton. The goal scoring struggles for St Johnstone have plagued the team, and Hamilton have not been too different either. The lack of goals from both teams is likely to end up creating a very tight contest. In the last five meetings between these two teams, only two matches – both at the McDiarmid Park – have been with more than 2.5 goals. A better choice would be to back under 2.5 goals in the game.

Hamilton Academical Preview

Hamilton have been unable to make their way into the top six places despite showing a healthy run of form over the last few weeks. Hamilton are still feeling the effects of a six-game losing streak in the months of September and October. The club’s last defeat was almost two months ago against Ross County. Since then, the team may have picked up only two victories but a run of six games without a loss has instilled a lot of confidence in the team. Only Celtic, Hibernian, and Rangers have taken more points than Hamilton in the last six SPL 2017-18 matches. This is down to a much improved defence, which has conceded less than a goal per game in the last six. David Templeton, Giannis Skondras, and Rakish Bingham all lead the scoring charts at Hamilton with three goals each.

Hamilton Academical Team News

There are no injuries or suspension worries for Hamilton coming into the game.

St.Johnstone Preview

St Johnstone’s win over Hibernian now appears to be a flash in the pan with the team slipping to a home defeat against Kilmarnock. This was the third loss in four matches for Tommy Wright’s team. The outstanding start to the season now looks like a distant memory for St Johnstone, who were clearly riding on the goals from Michael O’Halloran in the first few weeks. Now, there is a possibility of St Johnstone distancing themselves from the top six with the persistent poor run. Steve MacLean is not the joint top scorer at St Johnstone – alongside O’Halloran – with five goals in 13.

St.Johnstone Team News

Aaron Comrie (tendon) and Brian Easton (knee) are the players unavailable for manager Tommy Wright.
