Hamilton Academical vs Celtic Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Hamilton were able to secure a valuable away point against Kilmarnock after drawing 2-2 at the Rugby Park. The home team gained a 2-0 lead after Louis Longridge’s own goal and Lee Erwin’s second-half goal. However, Hamilton produced a remarkable comeback with goals from Ioannis Skondras and Alistair Crawford (penalty). Celtic dropped points for the first time this season after a 1-1 draw with St Johnstone. Steve MacLean came up with a first half goal which threatened to defeat Celtic for the first time in more than a year, but Callum McGregor came up with the equaliser late in the second half to snatch a point. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Like against many other teams in the SPL, Celtic have an impeccable record against Hamilton after managing five wins in the last six meetings. The only time when Celtic dropped points in this run was at the SuperSeal Stadium in February 2016. Hamilton have been unable to achieve a home win against Celtic in the last six. More importantly, the team has been losing at half-time and full-time in the last three encounters with Brendan Rodgers’ team. I see excellent value in backing a win for Celtic at half-time and full-time. Leigh Griffiths has seven goals in his 10 games against Hamilton. He has failed to score only once in the last six matches against this opposition. I would go with Griffiths to score anytime in the game.

Celtic win at half-time and full-time – 8/13

Leigh Griffiths to score anytime – 7/11

Hamilton Academical Preview

Hamilton have been able to quickly recover from the disappointing start to the season with two wins and a draw in the last three matches. The club have started the campaign with a loss against Aberdeen. Now, they have picked up seven points to remain only three points against Celtic in this early SPL 17-18 season. Last season, Hamilton managed six out of their seven league wins at the SuperSeal Stadium. This time around, they have had just one match at home so far this season. Rakish Bingham is the top scorer for Hamilton with two goals in his three appearances.

Hamilton Academical Team News

Hamilton manager Martin Canning is able to choose from a fully fit squad for this game.

Celtic Preview

Celtic were able to bring a long-standing transfer target, Patrick Roberts, back on loan in the last few days of the transfer window. It is a major positive for Brendan Rodgers, who has seen his Celtic team score eight goals in the opening four matches. Last season, Celtic were able to score more than 100 goals in the league. The club are yet to find the rhythm, and the recent poor results against Astana and St Johnstone only adds to the concern. Celtic are without a win in the last two games of all competitions. Callum McGregor is the top scorer with three goals.

Celtic Team News

Mousa Dembele (hamstring), Dedryck Boyata (knee), Erik Sviatchenko (knee), and Kouassi Eboue (ankle) are the players unavailable due to injury.
