Hajduk Split vs Everton Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Everton will look to finish the job when they travel to the Stadion Poljud on Thursday night to take on Hajduk Split for the second leg of their Europa League play-off tie. Everton took a 2-0 lead in this tie after their first-leg home win thanks to goals from Michael Keane and Idrissa Gueye. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Hajduk Split have enjoyed a great run of form over the past year, and I’m expecting them to get on the scoresheet at least once here. They had more shots on target than Everton last week, but unfortunately, they weren’t able to find the back of the net. Hajduk have won seven of their last nine Europa League home games, scoring at least two goals in six of these.

Hajduk Split Preview

Hajduk’ 2-0 defeat in north-west England last week was only their second loss in the last 15 games across all competitions. However, Hajduk bounced back with a comfortable 0-4 win on the road at Rudes in the 1. HNL league at the weekend, with Ahmed Said scoring a hat-trick. Regarding their Europa League campaign this season, Hajduk beat the likes of Levski Sofia and Brondby in order to reach this stage of the competition. They can count on their home form ahead of this clash as they are undefeated in the last eleven home meetings across all competitions while winning eight. Furthermore, the Croats have won seven of their last nine Europa League home games, scoring at least two goals in seven of these. Last season, Hajduk suffered a dramatic elimination at this stage of the competition following a penalty-shootout defeat at the hands of Maccabi Tel Aviv. The last time Hajduk Split reached the group stage of the competition was in the 2009/10 season when they finished bottom of the table in a difficult group with AEK Athens, Zenit Petersburg, and Anderlecht. Ante Erceg has been Hajduk’s most dangerous player in front of goal throughout this Europa League campaign as he has already scored three goals.

Hajduk Split Team News

There are no fresh injury concerns for Hajduk Split ahead of this game.

Everton Preview

On the contrary, Everton have enjoyed an impressive start to the new 2017/18 competitive season, having won four and draw one of their five official fixtures. They have also had a strong pre-season campaign, which means they head into this tie on the back of a nine-game unbeaten streak across all competitions. After their 2-0 home win over Hajduk Split in the Europa League last week, the Toffees managed to secure a hard-fought 1-1 away draw at Manchester City in the Premier League on Monday thanks to a goal from Wayne Rooney. This leaves Everton in 8th spot in the Premier League table tied on four points with four other teams. Ronald Koeman’s men have looked very well-organized at the back over the past few weeks as they have only conceded once in their last five official games. Prior to their two-legged tie against Hajduk Split, Everton managed to beat the Slovakian side Ruzomberok 2-0 on aggregate. Everton’s recent away record in the Europa League have seen them lose just once in their last six games. Everton were been knocked out from the round of 16 by Dynamo Kyiv in their most recent appearance in the Europa League back in 2015.

Everton Team News

Ramiro Funes Mori, Ross Barkley, Seamus Coleman and Yannick Bolasie are all missing through injury, while Sandro is a doubt. The good news is that James McCarthy is back in training following his knee injury.
