Guingamp vs Lille Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Lille will be looking to get back to winning ways in Ligue 1 when they travel to the Stade du Roudourou to take on Guingamp on Saturday evening. Guingamp lost 2-1 on the road at Lyon last time out in Ligue 1, with their consolation goal being scored by Marcus Thuram in the last 20 minutes of the game. Meanwhile, Lille were lucky to snatch a point from their nil-nil home draw against Bordeaux, as they went down to ten men in the 32nd minute when Tiago Maia saw his second yellow card. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Guingamp have been a solid side at the Stade du Roudourou last season and I’m expecting them to maximise their home advantage and to pick up all three points, particularly due to Lille’s terrible form in this early part of the new season. Guingamp have only lost once in their last eight home games against Lille across all competitions, while conceding just three goals. In terms of betting markets, I think that the ‘Both teams to score - No’ has a lot of value, as both sides have struggled in front of the goal in this early part of the season. Here are our best betting tips for this clash:

Guingamp to win at 11/10

Both teams to score - No at 19/20

Guingamp saw over 1.5 goals in 8 out of their last 10 games played

Lille saw over 1.5 goals in 8 out of their last 10 games played

Guingamp Preview

Guingamp have been up and down in this early part of the season, winning two and losing three of the opening five games in Ligue 1. They managed to beat Strasbourg 2-0 at home prior to their 2-1 defeat at Lyon last weekend. Antoine Kombouare’s men currently sit in 12th in the Ligue 1 table tied on six points with Amiens and Nice, just two points clear of the bottom three. Guingamp have been one of the home teams in Ligue 1 last season, having lost just four of their 19 home league fixtures. This season, they have won one and lost one of their two home games in Ligue 1, scoring two goals and conceding three in this term. However, Guingamp did well to beat Lille 1-0 at home in the most recent home meeting with Les Dogues in Ligue 1. Guingamp looked decent in the final third in this early part of the season as they have already scored six goals in their five league games. Jimmy Briand and Mustapha Diallo has been Guingamp’s most prolific players in front of goal so far this season, as they bagged four goals between them. Jimmy Briand has played a vital part in Guingamp’s performance last season as he was the team’s topscorer with twelve goals and five assists under his belt.

Guingamp Team News

Franck Tabanou and Jonathan Martins Pereira are both doubts ahead of this game.

Lille Preview

Lille, on the flip side, kicked off the new Ligue 1 season with a 3-0 home win over Nantes but have failed to win a single game since then. Les Dogues come into this clash on the back of a four-game winless streak in Ligue 1, losing two and drawing two in the process. Scoring goals has been the main reason for their recent poor run of form, as Lille have only found the back of the net once in their last four games in Ligue 1. They only find themselves in 16th spot in the standings tied on five points with Troyes and Rennes, just one point clear of the bottom three. The 24-year-old defender Junior Alonso has been Lille’s standout player in this early part of the season, helping the team with one goal and one assist in his five league appearances. Away from home, Lille have endured a mixed run of form over the past five months, registering three wins, five defeats and two draws in their last ten games across all competitions. Lille hold the better head-to-head record between these two sides over the past few years, having lost just once in six games across all competitions. Les Dogues managed to beat Guingamp 3-0 in the most recent meeting between these two teams thanks to a brace from Nicolas De Preville and another goal from Eder.

Lille Team News

Adama Soumaoro, Hamza Mendyl and Thiago Mendes are all missing through injury, while Thiago Maia is out through suspension. The good news is that Vincent Enyeama is back in training following his knee injury.
