Girona vs Real Betis Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Girona’s form came crashing down after a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Real Sociedad at the Anoeta. Sergio Canales and Adnan Januzaj had provided the hosts with a 2-0 lead going into halftime, but second-half goals from Mikel Oyarzabal (2) and Juanmi made it a comprehensive in for Real Sociedad. Real Betis made it four consecutive wins after beating Eibar 2-0 at home. Sergio Leon successfully beat the offside trap in the 21st minute to score the opener, while an own goal from Anaitz Arbilla made it a comfortable win for Betis.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The return to the Municipal de Montilivi is a welcome change for Girona, who have lost two out of the last three games. However, they are up against a strong Real Betis outfit that has picked up four consecutive wins. Momentum and confidence is certainly with the away team, who have registered four wins in the last five trips. I see tremendous value in choosing a victory for Real Betis.

The defence at Girona has been looking shabby in recent matches. Real Betis, meanwhile, have had a good run in front of goal – thanks to the form of players like Sergio Leon. The reverse fixture between these two teams produced a game that had four goals in total. I see value in choosing over 2.5 goals in this game.

Girona Preview

Even though Girona could end the 2017-18 campaign on a high, it appears that the players are already shifting their focus towards a leisurely approach in the remaining seven matches of the season. A return of just one point from the last three matches is not a huge concern, but the games against Real Madrid and Real Sociedad have seen the team concede an incredible 11 goals. The defence looked in shatters against Real Sociedad, but one of the comforting elements over the next few weeks is a run of four home games in the next five. Girona have generally excelled in games at the Municipal de Montilivi.

Girona Team News

Michael Olunga (hip), José Aurelio Suarez (shoulder), Carles Planas (hamstring), and Douglas Luiz (virus) are unavailable due to injuries.

Real Betis Preview

An amazing run of form has put Real Betis as the frontrunner for finishing in the top five places. The club has picked up four consecutive wins to displace Villarreal and Sevilla from the top five contention. However, the race to become the first Europa League qualifying team is not over since Quique Setien’s team only hold a two-point advantage over Villarreal. The momentum is certainly with Real Betis and the next five matches are also quite conducive to the team picking up more than 10 points. A run of three consecutive clean sheets is quite remarkable for a team that has conceded the highest number of goals (53) amongst any team in the top 10.

Real Betis Team News

Zouhair Feddal (Achilles tendon), Francis Guerrero (thigh), Victor Camarasa (illness), and Antonio Adan (groin) are missing from action for Real Betis. Jordi Amat is the only player on the sidelines due to suspension.
