Girona vs Leganes Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Girona saw their four-game unbeaten run conclude with a 1-0 loss against Sevilla during the weekend. The decisive moment in the game came when Aday missed a penalty in the 41st minute. It took Sevilla only a few minutes to capitalise on this advantage, as Pablo Sarabia scored just after half-time to give the game’s only goal. Leganes lost for a second consecutive game as Eibar picked up a 1-0 win at the Municipal de Butarque. The two teams appeared to be heading for a stalemate when defender Dimitris Siovas was sent off in the 84th minute. Eibar capitalised on the situation by scoring in the fourth minute of injury time through Ivan Ramis’ header.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The Girona outfit have a sizeable advantage playing at home. Even though Leganes have suffered back-to-back losses, the team still remains quite good in most areas – apart from offence. Girona will be able to use this to their own advantage. Apart the loss against Sevilla, Girona have had an excellent 2018 with back-to-back home wins. I would choose a third consecutive home win for Girona.

Christian Stuani was rested for the game against Sevilla, and manager Pablo Machin was clearly protecting him for this match against Leganes at home. Stuani is the top scorer at Girona with 12 league goals, and he has been able to score in the last six matches at Municipal de Montilivi. I would back Christian Stuani to score anytime.

Girona Preview

Girona continue to have a dream run in the La Liga. Even after the defeat against Sevilla last weekend, the team remains on course for a top-10 finish. Girona might have taken something out of the game against Sevilla had it not been for the missed penalty. Such has been the confidence displayed by the team. Over the course of the campaign, Girona have bounced back from adversities and the team will have to show this character quickly with the likes of Barcelona and Villarreal coming up as the next few opponents. Christian Stuani is the club’s top scorer with 12 league goals.

Girona Team News

David Timor (fever), José Aurelio Suarez (shoulder), Pere Pons (calf), and Douglas Luiz (muscle) are the players unavailable for Girona.

Leganes Preview

Leganes appeared to be going just fine a week ago, but the exit from the Copa del Rey and the defeat against Eibar has taken the wind out of the team. Leganes remain on the verge of jumping into the top 10, but they may have to put a sustained effort in order to catch the likes of Girona or Eibar. After having struggled with scoring goals throughout the campaign, it is not surprising that Leganes have been unable to score in the last three games. Even now, Leganes have only managed 20 goals in the 22 league matches with Gabriel Pires having contributed five of those goals.

Leganes Team News

Dimitris Siovas is the player suspended from action, while Dos Santos Mauro (physical discomfort) and Serantes (shoulder) are unavailable due to injuries.
