Girona vs Deportivo La Coruna Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Girona were able to get the rub of the green, as the team managed a 2-0 win over Villarreal at the La Ceramica. Christian Stuani provided Girona with a surprise lead in the 16th minute, as the away team capitalised on a mistake from the hosts. However, Villarreal were turned down two good penalty appeals. Anthony Lozano scored in the 80th minute, but Stuani appeared offside in the build-up to the goal. Deportivo La Coruna are now 12 La Liga matches without a win, as the team only managed a 1-1 draw at home with Eibar. Takashi Inui made the most of La Coruna goalkeeper Maksym Koval’s mistake to score in the 11th-minute. Florin Andone’s header put the game back on level terms, and La Coruna had several chances to win the game. Those hopes were dashed in the 39th minute when Koval received a straight red card.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Girona are aiming for a double over La Coruna and they are also targeting a third consecutive win over this opponent. La Coruna have come up with some decent performances of late, but there has not been a positive result under Seedorf. Now, La Coruna appear to be heading for a fifth consecutive away defeat. In the last four away games, La Coruna have been losing at half-time and full-time in three games. I would choose a win at half-time and full-time for Girona. Christian Stuani has been in wonderful form throughout the campaign. Stuani happens to be Girona’s biggest threat in front of goal and it is not a surprise to see him top the scoring charts at the club with 14 goals. The Uruguayan has been unable to score only twice in the last six appearances. I would back Stuani to score anytime.

Girona win at half-time and full-time – 6/4

Stuani to score anytime – 6/5

Girona Preview

Girona’s campaign keeps getting better and the club managed to take advantage of Villarreal’s recent slump in form to get a third win in five matches. The result takes Girona to within a point off the top six places. Many eyebrows were raised when Girona looked like contenders for the top 10 places, but the club are now in a situation where they could even qualify for Europe – after having been promoted to the La Liga for the first time. Christian Stuani is now up to 14 goals for the campaign.

Girona Team News

José Aurelio Suarez (shoulder), Gorka Moreno (calf), and Carles Planas (hamstring) miss out due to injuries.

Deportivo La Coruna Preview

The lack of wins pushes Deportivo La Coruna even closer towards the drop. During the weekend, the club once again came in with a strong performance but Clarence Seedorf has been made to wait for his first victory as the La Coruna manager. The games at Riazor are seen as the best possible opportunity for La Coruna to end this unwanted record, but the team has struggled for results even at home. A major positive element from the weekend would be Florin Andone managing his first league goal in five games.

Deportivo La Coruna Team News

Bicho (shoulder), Federico Valverde (hamstring), Federico Cartabia (thigh), Guilherme (thigh), and Edu Esposito (illness) are unavailable due to injuries.
