Getafe vs Valencia Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Getafe’s unbeaten run of a few matches in the La Liga 2017-18 campaign came to an end with a narrow 1-0 loss against Espanyol. Getafe missed a glorious one-on-one opportunity to take the lead before Gerard Moreno put Espanyol in front just after half-time. Getafe were then knocked out of the Copa del Rey after a 4-0 aggregate defeat against Deportivo Alaves. Valencia remained level on points with Barcelona after a 1-1 draw with the Catalan Giants at the Mestalla. Rodrigo scored the first goal in the 60th minute after Lionel Messi’s legitimate effort was ruled out. Jordi Alba, though, came up with the equaliser with eight minutes of normal time left.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Valencia continue to hold a substantial lead over the two Madrid teams despite the dropped points against Barcelona. The away form has improved substantially for Valencia with four consecutive victories while Getafe have lost back-to-back games in all competitions. Even though the recent two meetings have been 2-2 draws, Valencia hold the form and confidence required to win the game. I would go with a victory for Valencia. A huge factor behind Valencia’s success this season has been the goals. Marcelino’s intense style of football has led to the team scoring 33 goals in the first 13 games. Valencia have scored under 1.5 goals only once in the last four games against Getafe, who have scored 12 in the last six home games. Hence, this game has the likelihood of over 2.5 goals.

Getafe Preview

Getafe were able to make up a couple of places in the La Liga over the last few weeks, but the recent defeat against Espanyol has put the club closer to the relegation zone. Even though Getafe have lost only once in the last five games, the team are only four points ahead of Deportivo La Coruna in the 17th place. An exit from the Copa del Rey may also be a blessing in disguise for the team, as it would lead to a greater focus on the La Liga games. Getafe are at home in three out of the next four league matches. Angel Rodriguez is the top scorer at the club with six goals.

Getafe Team News

Getafe do not have injuries or suspensions coming into the match.

Valencia Preview

Valencia have shown that their results so far are no flash in the pan after managing a draw with Barcelona – albeit with the aid of a huge refereeing mistake. The club’s eight-game winning streak in the La Liga 2017-18 campaign may have been brought to an end by the draw with Barcelona, but it keeps Marcelino’s team in with a shout to qualify for the Champions League at the very least. The trust placed in the youth has been rewarded in the best possible way. Valencia have the second-best scoring record in the division with one goal fewer than Barcelona (34). Simone Zaza is the top scorer at the club with six goals.

Valencia Team News

Javier Jimenez (cruciate ligament), Goncalo Guedes (toe), Ezequiel Garay (abdominal injury), and Jeison Murillo (hernia) are unavailable for Valencia.
