Getafe vs Sevilla Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Getafe continued their poor run of form from the pre-season friendlies into the goalless draw against Athletic Bilbao. Getafe created most of the best openings in the game from set piece situations, while Athletic Bilbao also had good moments of their own. Sevilla began their era under Eduardo Berizzo with a 1-1 draw with Espanyol at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Sevilla came up with the opening goal of the game through Clement Lenglet. However, this lead was not last for long, as Leo Baptistao scored the equaliser in the 35th minute. Ever Banega was sent off late in the game to compound an average opening day for the home team.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Getafe come into the game on the back of a poor run of form even from the friendly matches. Sevilla are unbeaten in the last four, but the Champions League qualifiers could be a distraction for the club. In the last five meetings between the two clubs, only the home team has been successful. Sevilla are without a victory in their last five visits to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez. Getafe have been able to claim four wins in this period. One of the reasons for Sevilla failing to qualify automatically for the Champions League group stages is the away form, which witnessed four defeats in the last five on the road. I would go with a surprise pick of a Getafe win. The opening matches for Sevilla and Getafe witnessed under 2.5 goals, while the games between the two clubs with Getafe as the home team has also witnessed just two in six being high-scoring games. I would go with under 2.5 goals in this fixture.

Getafe Preview

Getafe are already being installed as one of the early favourites for relegation, as the club have been showing poor form even from pre-season. The club are without a win even in the pre-season friendly matches this season. Getafe failed to create much chances from open play in the match against Athletic Bilbao. The club are promoted from the second division through the play-offs, but manager Pepe Bordalas has had the chance to strengthen the team with several additions to the squad in the transfer market.

Getafe Team News

Alvaro Jimenez is suspended for the game, while Daniel Pacheco (shoulder) is unavailable due to injury.

Sevilla Preview

The start to the season with a home draw is a disappointing element for Berizzo, who has been given plenty of funds to strengthen the squad. Sevilla have brought in the likes of Luis Muriel and Simon Kjaer. Banega began his second spell at the club in the worst possible fashion with a red card on the opening day. The midweek match against Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League qualifiers is a source of concern for Sevilla, as it might mean lower energy for the team in the upcoming league game against Getafe.

Sevilla Team News

Ever Banega is suspended for the game after his red card against Espanyol. David Soria Solis (finger), Sebastien Corchia (calf), and Daniel Carrico (hamstring) are the players unavailable for Sevilla due to injury.
