Germany U21 Preview

Germany U21 kicked off their Euro U21 group stage campaign with comfortable victories over Czech Republic U21 and Denmark U21, scoring five goals and conceding none in the process. They lost 1-0 at the hands of Italy U21 in the final group fixture, but that’s because they had already qualified for the Semifinals and coach Rusty Kuntz decided to rest some players. They finished in second in the group C table and had to face England in the Semi-finals. Kuntz’s men controlled the game since the first whistle as they had an amazing tally of 38 goalscoring opportunities. After a 2-2 draw in the regular time and extra-time, the Germans managed to pick up a deserved victory at penalties, with goalie Julian Pollersbeck saving Nathan Redmond’s spot kick. Germany’s midfield proved to be very creative with talented players in the shape of Mahmoud Dahoud, Max Meyer or Maximilian Arnold. Davie Selkie is leading the attacking line and he has been directly involved in more goals (three) than any other German player at the U21 Euros. Head-to-head, Germany U21 are winless in their three meetings with Spain U21 across all competitions, but the most worrying fact is that they have failed to score a single goal in the process.

Germany U21 Team News

There are no fresh injury concerns for Germany U21 ahead of this tie.

Spain U21 Preview

On the contrary, Spain U21 looked incredibly strong throughout this Euro 21 tournament as they have won all their four games, scoring an amazing tally of 12 goals in the process. The Spaniards topped their group B table with maximum points while conceding just once in their three group fixtures. Furthermore, they followed this up with an impressive 3-1 victory over Italy U21 in the Semi-finals, with Saul Niguez scoring a hat-trick. Spain’s midfield is one of the best in Europe as they have Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez, Barcelona’s Denis Suárez, and Alaves’s Marcos Llorente. Their attacking line is led by Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio, Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams, and Everton’s Gerard Deulofeu. Saul Niguez proved his finisher qualities by scoring five goals throughout this tournament, while Marco Asensio netted three. Gerard Deulofeu has also been involved in three of Spain’s goals, helping the team with two assists and one goal. Spain managed to win this tournament on four occasions, with the most recent two being in 2011 and 2013. They were absent from the final tournament two years ago, which means that they have now reached the final of the last three U21 Euros in which they have competed.

Spain U21 Team News

Ramirez, Deulofeu and Ceballos have all been substituted with ten minutes to go against Italy, which means that they will be in the starting lineup here.
