Germany vs Chile Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Germany and Chile will be facing each other at the Kazan’ Arena in Kazan on Thursday evening, with both teams looking for the second victory of their FIFA Confederations Cup group B. Germany won 3-2 against Australia thanks to goals from Lars Stindl, Julian Draxler, and Leon Goretzka. Meanwhile, Chile beat Cameroon 2-0, with Arturo Vidal and Eduardo Vargas scoring the goals within the last ten minutes of the game. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

This is a must-win game for both sides as it will decide the group winners. Both teams have enjoyed a good run of form recently, so I’m expecting both to score at least once here. Chile are favorites to win, but I’m going with Germany draw no bet as they have a very talented squad.

Germany Preview

Germany have brought a fairly inexperienced squad, but these young players proved that they can score plenty of goals. Coach Joachim Loew used the same players in Germany’s 7-0 victory over San Marino in a World Cup qualifier a fortnight ago. Furthermore, they followed this up with a 2-3 win over Australia in the opening round of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. Julian Draxler is Germany’s standout player at this tournament and he already managed to get on the scoresheet in his team’s victory against Australia. Germany are tied on three points with the current leaders Chile, as the South Americans have a better goal difference. The winner of this game will decide the group winners, which means that both sides will be looking for all three points here. Germany are currently unbeaten in eleven games across all competitions since a 0-2 loss against France in the Euro 2016 Semi-finals. During this impressive run of form, the Germans managed to score 34 goals and concede just four. Head-to-head, Germany have won their four meetings with Chile across all competitions, conceding just once in the process.

Germany Team News

Germany have no fresh injury concerns ahead of this game, but it’s possible to see some changes in this clash.

Chile Preview

Meanwhile, Chile needed two late goals to defeat Cameroon in the opening round of the group B two days ago. Prior to this result, Chile suffered an unexpected 3-2 away defeat at the hands of Romania in a friendly fixture. The Chileans looked pretty good going forward over the past three months, scoring at least two goals in four of their last five games across all competitions. The South Americans currently sit on top of the group B table tied on points with the 2nd-placed and their Thursday’s opponents, Germany. Chile’s form over the past year have been decent as they have only lost twice in their last eleven games across all competitions. The bad news is that Chile have suffered defeats in each of their four meetings with Germany, scoring just once in the process. Alexis Sanchez was on the bench for Chile’s game against Cameroon, but he entered the field for the last 30 minutes of the match. However, Chile still have enough firepower within their squad even without Sanchez, as Eduardo Vargas and Arturo Vidal looked very well against Cameroon.

Chile Team News

Alexis Sanchez will probably start on the bench once again due to his minor injury.
