Germany vs Cameroon Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Germany will be looking to book their place in the Semi-finals when they take on Cameroon on Sunday afternoon in the final fixture of the FIFA Confederations group B. Germany fought back from one-goal down to secure a 1-1 draw against Chile on Thursday, with Lars Stindl scoring the equaliser with just four minutes before the break. On the other hand, Cameroon threw away a one-goal lead to register only a 1-1 draw against Australia on Thursday afternoon. Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa gave Cameroon in the stoppage time of the first-half, but the Socceroos leveled the game soon after the break. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Although they only managed a 1-1 draw against Chile on Thursday, Germany looked very solid in that game and they should no problems against Cameroon, who have only scored once throughout this tournament. Germany are unbeaten in their last three meetings with Cameroon across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in each of these.

Germany Preview

Germany’s form over the past year has been near impeccable as they have won nine and draw three of their last 12 games across all competitions. The Germans kicked off their FIFA Confederations Cup campaign with a 2-3 win over Australia in the opening round, but only managed a 1-1 draw against Chile on Thursday. This leaves Germany in second in the group B table tied on 4 points with the current leaders Chile due to an inferior goal difference. The Germans are the group’s topscorers with four goals under their belts, but they conceded three in this term. Although Germany’s standout player is Julian Draxler as he has the most caps, Lars Stindl proved to be the prolific one as he has already managed to score two goals in two games and is the tournament’s topscorer at the moment. Head-to-head, Germany are undefeated in their three meetings with Cameroon across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in each of these. Of course, this is a much-changed Germany team from the one that won the World Cup in 2014, but there is still plenty of talent in the squad.

Germany Team News

I’m expecting Joachim Loew to rotate the squad a bit to give Timo Werner, Julian Brandt and Bernd Leno a chance here.

Cameroon Preview

On the contrary, Cameroon were on a 14-game unbeaten streak between June 2016 to March 2017, but their recent form has been awful. They have only won once in their last five games across all competitions while losing three in the process. The Africans come into this tie on the back of a three-game winless run across all competitions, including a humiliating 0-4 home loss at the hands of Colombia in a warm-up game before the FIFA Confederations Cup. They kicked off the tournament with a 0-2 loss at the hands of Chile in the opening round, but looked much better in their 1-1 draw against Australia on Thursday. This leaves Cameroon on the bottom of the group B table tied on points with Australia, already three points off the 2nd-placed and their Sunday’s opponents Germany. Scoring has definitely been Cameroon’s biggest problem throughout this tournament as they only managed to find the back of the net once in two group fixtures. Cameroon are in dire need of a victory here, but it seems to be an impossible task as they have only scored once in the last three games across all competitions, while Germany have kept a clean sheet in eight of their last 12 fixtures.

Cameroon Team News

There are no fresh injury concerns for Cameroon ahead of this tie.
