Germany vs Azerbaijan Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

German will look to extend their 100% perfect run throughout this World Cup qualifying campaign when they welcome Azerbaijan at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion on Sunday night. Germany picked up a comfortable 1-3 away win against Northern Ireland on Thursday night thanks to goals from Sebastian Rudy, Sandro Wagner and Joshua Kimmich. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan suffered a narrow 1-2 home loss at the hands of the Czech Republic, with their consolation goal being scored by Afran Izmailov from the spot just before the hour mark. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

It will be a one-sided game for sure so I’m expecting Germany to secure another big-margin victory in this one. Germany have scored at least four goals in three of the last four meetings with Azerbaijan across all competitions. I’m also backing them to keep a clean sheet as they haven’t conceded a single goal in their last six home fixtures across all competitions.

Germany Preview

Germany haven’t lost a single game since their 0-2 defeat at the hands of France in the Semi-finals of the Euro 2016. They are currently on a 18-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, winning 15 in the process. During this impressive run of form, Germany managed to win the FIFA Confederations Cup despite the fact that coach Loew have used a young and inexperienced squad. Furthermore, the Germans have enjoyed a perfect run throughout this World Cup qualifying campaign, winning all of their nine games. They sit comfortably at the top of the group C table with maximum points to their name after nine rounds, eight points clear of the second-placed the Northern Ireland. The Germans have been scoring goals for fun throughout this qualifying campaign, having managed to find the back of the net in 38 occasions. Thomas Muller has played a vital part in Germany’s performance throughout this campaign, helping the team with five goals and seven assists in his eight appearances. On home soil, Germany have won eight and draw one of their last nine home games across all competitions, conceding just three goals in the process. In addition, Germany have won their both home meetings with Azerbaijan across all competitions, scoring ten goals and conceding just one in this term.

Germany Team News

Leroy Sane and Jerome Boateng return for the final two World Cup qualifiers, but Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira, Manuel Neuer, Jonas Hector and Mario Gomez are all out through injury.

Azerbaijan Preview

The Azerbaijanis fans should be satisfied with their team’s performance throughout this qualifying campaign as they managed to collect ten points from their nine rounds so far. This leaves them in 5th position in the standings tied on points with the 4th-placed Norway, already nine points behind the second-placed Northern Ireland. Although they won’t qualify for the World Cup, Azerbaijan looked much better than in their previous qualifying campaigns for a major tournament. The Azeri’s main problem throughout this campaign has been their inefficient attack as they only managed nine goals in nine group games. Afran Izmailov is a player to watch for Azerbaijan, as he is the team’s topscorer throughout this campaign, scoring three goals and providing two assists in his seven appearances. Azerbaijan’s away form over the past two years has seen them win just two of their last ten away games across all competitions. The most worrying fact is that Azerbaijan have failed to score in five of these.

Azerbaijan Team News

There are no fresh injury games for Azerbaijan ahead of this trip.
