Fulham vs Sunderland Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Friday evening (19:45) live SKYTV fixture will have an impact on the promotion race as third placed Fulham are in ation.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Fulham picked up an important three points last weekend as they won at fellow form side Millwall.  The game ended 3-0 with a goal each from Ryan Seesegnon, Kevin MacDonald and Aleksandar Mitrovic giving the Cottagers all three points.

Sunderland suffered a home loss to Burton last time out that saw them relegated to the third tier.  Paddy McNair had given them the lead but two goals in the final five minutes saw them lose 2-1 and suffer a second successive relegation.

The reverse came in mid-December and the Black Cats won a rare home game that day 1-0 thanks to a Josh Maja goal.  It continues the Wearsiders dominance of their head-to-head record with no defeat in their last four and just one loss in seven.

Betting Tips and Predictions

It is hard to see past Fulham though the price does not offer any value as it is far too short.  Sunderland have netted in six of their last eight on the road and with relegation confirmed could play with the handbrake off.  I think taking the home side to win and yes in the both teams to score market appeals.
It also might be worth a small interest in the goalscorer market with Kevin MacDonald who has two in his last five a decent each-way option to be first goalscorer.

Fulham to win the game and yes both teams to score
Kevin MacDonald first goalscorer, each-way

The Cottagers have now gone a remarkable 22 matches without defeat but still find themselves depending on Cardiff slipping up.  They are one behind the Welsh side with two games to come with their final fixture away at Birmingham.

At Craven Cottage, they have won 11 of their last 14 games and not lost any of these as they have made their home ground a fortress.  Just two of the last nine visitors to this ground have managed to net.

Aleksandar Mitrovic has netted 11 times in his last 12 appearances while Ryan Sessegnon has bagged 15 goals this season.  Around 66% of the goals that they have scored this campaign have come in the second-half.

Fulham Team News

Floyd Ayite (hamstring) and Sheji Ojo (unknown) are rated doubtful for this match

Sunderland Preview

The Black Cats suffered a second successive relegation last weekend and with Wolves and Fulham remaining look set to finish bottom.  Despite not being able to keep them up most fans want Chris Coleman to be given a chance to develop his own side and build for the future in League One.

Away from the Stadium of Light, they have taken 21 of their 34 points this season and they have gone unbeaten in their last three.  They have the found of the back net at least once in seven of their last nine on their travels.

Patrick McNair has netted in three of his last four appearances while George Honeyman has three in his last six.  Around 63% of the goals Sunderland have scored this season have come in the second-half.

Sunderland Team News

Darron Gibson, (groin), Jonny Williams and Bryan Oviedo (all hamstring) are doubts while Duncan Watmore (knee), Robbin Ruitter (broken finger), Jack Rodwell (hamstring), Tyias Browning (groin), Lynden Gooch and Donald Love (both knee) are out for the season.
