Betting Tips and Predictions

In terms of upsets, this could be one of the standout fixtures for a shock, with both in contrasting spells of form. That said, Southampton are desperate for a win and I’m expecting them to play a strong side here to ensure they get back to winning ways.

Fulham Preview

Slavisa Jokanovic saw his team continue their recent resurgence towards the playoff picture in midweek after Fulham came from behind to defeat Ipswich 4-1 thanks to four goals in the space of seven second half minutes. Joe Garner gave Mick McCarthy’s men the lead just before half-time, but Jordan Spence’s 54th-minute red card turned the game on its head. Soon after, both Ryan Sessegnon and Aboubakar Kamara scored to make it 2-1 to the Cottagers, before each player completed a brace for themselves shortly after to complete what proved to be an emphatic win for Fulham. Now winning three of their last four games in the Championship, taking a total of ten points from a possible twelve in that time, a run which has now seen them move to within four points of the playoff places. That will of course be their priority this season, and it will be interesting to see how strong of a side Jokanovic decides to go with here, particularly with such an important contest away to Middlesbrough to come the following Saturday. Despite the fear of injury, they will also be keen to keep their winning run at home going, having won four in a row at Craven Cottage ahead of this contest.

Fulham Team News

Fulham have no fresh injury concerns coming into this weekend.

Southampton Preview

The pressure is really beginning to crank up on Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino after the Argentine boss saw his team lose 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace - a result which saw the Eagles leapfrog Saints in the table. Southampton started on the front foot and were rewarded for their positive start when Shane Long ended his 324-day wait for a goal with a confident finish past Wayne Hennessey from Jeremy Pied’s cutback. However, James McArthur finished from close range from Christian Benteke’s knockdown before Luka Milivojevic’s excellent finish from 25 yards sealed a huge comeback win for the Eagles. While Roy Hodgson’s men are soaring, Southampton are dropping like a stone, now finding themselves 17th in the table and only out of the relegation zone on goal difference, to a Stoke City side with the worst defensive record in the top flight. WIth only one win in thirteen and no victories in nine, concerns of relegation have become a serious possibility for this side, who have now seen their form catch up to them in the shape of their current league position. Survival, it seems, will now be their main priority, but Southampton can’t afford to turn their noses up at the FA Cup or risk seeing their winless run continue.

Southampton Team News

Cedric Soares (ankle) and Charlie Austin (hamstring) are both ruled out here.
