Fulham vs Sheffield United Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) game is an important one at the top of the table as fourth plays host to eighth. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Fulham are now 13 matches unbeaten in the Championship and picked up another big win coming out on top 2-1 at Derby. Ryan Sessegnon and Aleksandar Mitrovic got the goals that their performance deserved. Sheffield United were scheduled to play at home to Burton on Saturday but the game was postponed. The last time they played was the previous Tuesday where they defeated Reading 3-1 thanks to a Billy Sharp brace and one from Mark Duffy. The reverse fixture came in November from Bramall Lane and that was a nine-goal thriller the London side won 5-4. Ryan Sessegnon got a hat-trick for the Cottagers that day and Sheyi Ojo grabbed a brace while Leon Clarke grabbed three for the Blades and Samir Carruthers struck one.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I think Fulham look good things here having won eight straight league games at home by a combined 20 goals to two. Sheffield United have picked up draws at Derby and Aston Villa but the Cottagers are a stronger side to me and I would take them to get another three points here. The Blades have blanked in two of their last three on the road and given the London outfit have shut out both Villa and Wolves at their own ground in back-to-back games they look a nice price to keep a clean sheet here.

Fulham Preview

A remarkable run of 13 without defeat for the Cottagers has moved them up to fourth in the table. They are five behind automatic promotion (Cardiff do have a game in hand though) and this (Sheffield United in eighth) is the highest ranked opponent they still must face this season. At Craven Cottage, it is eight straight league victories with each of their last four coming to nil. 18 of the 29 goals the London outfit have scored at their own ground this season have come in their last six matches. Each of the last six Fulham league matches have featured a total of exactly two or three goals. Ryan Sessegnon has netted ten goals in his last 12 matches while Aleksandar Mitrovic has two in two.

Fulham Team News

Tomas Kalas (hip) is their only doubt ahead of this game.

Sheffield United Preview

The Blades did win just one of six through January and early February but have picked up of late winning three of their last four. They are in eighth place in the division and face three of their next four on the road. Away from Bramall Lane, it has been a mixed bag of late with two victories, two draws and two defeats from their last six. Four of their last six and nine of their last 13 on the road have seen both teams find the back of the net. After a quiet spell, Billy Sharp seems to be coming back into form and has netted four times in his last four in the league. 41% of the goals Sheffield United have scored in the league this season have come in the opening or closing 15 minutes.

Sheffield United Team News

Jamal Blackman, Leon Clarke (both unknown), David Brooks (back) and James Wilson (ankle) are doubts while Paul Coutts (broken leg) is out for the season
