Fulham vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday lunchtime (12:30) fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table and is live on SKYTV.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Fulham come into the game in great form making it four straight victories last time out as they defeated Preston 2-1 at Deepdale.  Aleksandar Mitrovic was the star of the show as he grabbed a brace including a goal with virtually the last kick of the ball to enable them to claim all three points.

QPR will be full of confidence after their match on Tuesday night when they went to Villa Park and defeated high-flying Aston Villa 3-1-  The Rs shared the goals around with one each for Ryan Manning, Jake Bidwell and Luke Freeman.

The reverse fixture came at the end of September at Loftus Road in a game the Cottagers won 2-1.  An own-goal put them ahead in the 41st minute before they extended the lead with a Stefan Johansen goal, a Conor Washington 90th minute strike gave the hosts hope but they could find no further breakthrough.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Fulham are as you can imagine strong favourites to win the game given their confidence but then again so were Aston Villa going into the midweek fixture with QPR.  The Rs have beaten several top sides this season and the prices look too short to be getting involved with given this is also a London derby.

Over 2.5 goals is a frequent occurrence for both teams this season but perhaps bookmakers have pushed it out too much making unders the bet.  The visitors will know how important this game is and will not allow the hosts any space. They tried similar tactics at Bristol City and Derby and lost 2-0 on that occasion while losing 2-1 at Sheff U and Wolves meaning that under 2.5 goals is worth a small play.

Given that Fulham have not conceded a home goal in the last five and QPR are in the bottom third of goal scoring road teams in the league the price on the home side to keep a clean sheet also appeals.

Fulham Preview

The Cottagers are flying now with four straight victories and no defeat from their last 16 in the Championship.  With nine matches to go they must hope that Cardiff and or Wolves will slip and allow them to make back the eight-point difference to second.

At Craven Cottage, they have won nine straight in the league with each of the last five coming to nil.  In their last seven in front of their own fans they have netted 21 (an average of three per game) and shipped just two goals.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is a man in form with seven goals from his last five matches and a brace in each of his last two.  Around 63% of the league goals Fulham have scored this season have come in the second-half.

Fulham Team News

Tomas Kalas (hip) is their only doubt ahead of this game.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

The Rs have now won two straight and taken seven points from their last three which has put behind any lingering relegation doubts.  Ian Holloway and his side can now play with freedom and towards the end of the season and his youngsters will be looking to impress over the remainder of the campaign.

Away from Loftus Road, their victory in midweek was just their third of the season with two of these coming in their last five.  Four of the last five they have played in the league on the road have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Three of the last five and four of the last seven QPR have played have gone over 2.5 goals with two of the last four going over 3.5 goals.  Around 66% of their goals this season have come in the second-half.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Idrissa Sylla (calf) and Grant Hall (knee) are doubts while Jamie Mackie (back surgery) and David Wheeler (ankle) are long-term absentees.
