Fulham vs Ipswich Town Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday (2nd) evening (19:45) fixture features two sides in the top-half of the Championship looking to climb closer to the top six. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Fulham fought back to claim a useful point last time out as they drew 2-2 with Hull at the KC Stadium. They had Aboubakar Kamara to thank as he netted a brace (one penalty) to keep up their recent decent run. Ipswich are struggling a little as injuries and a small squad are catching up with them and they suffered a 2-1 home loss to Derby in their previous match. A 66th minute Joe Garner goal gave them hope but they could find no further breakthrough. The reverse meeting between these two came at the end of August at Portman Road in a game the London side won 2-0. Neeskens Kebano and Rui Fonte got the goals to continue a head-to-head trend that has seen the Cottagers win their last three meetings.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I would make Fulham the favourites given the problems with injuries Ipswich have especially in midfield which is an area the hosts are strong in. I could not take the price on offer given the Cottagers have won four of 12 at their own ground this season. I am surprised to find under 2.5 goals as the outsider of the two markets here given that five of the last six at this ground have gone under while the Suffolk side have been involved in overs in just two of their last eight. The Tractor Boys have failed to score in five of their last eight and as such backing the home side to keep a clean sheet also looks worth a small interest.

Fulham Preview

It is now just one defeat in their last five and two in their last nine for Fulham who are hoping to make a second-half of the season run at the play-off places. They sat in 12th going into 2018 and were just five points behind Sheffield United in sixth. At Craven Cottage, they are starting to find the form needed with victories in each of their last three. These matches tend to be low scoring with just one of the last six in front of their own fans going over 2.5 goals. Seven of the last eight goals that Fulham have scored have come in the second-half with four of these in the final 20 minutes. Each of their last three and six of their last nine have seen both teams find the back of the net. Given that both teams score around two-thirds (66%) of their goals in the second-half backing the second 45 minutes to be the highest scoring looks the value selection.

Fulham Team News

They have no registered injuries or suspensions ahead of this game.

Ipswich Town Preview

It is now just four points from a possible 15 on offer in their last five fixtures for the Tractor Boys. They have dropped to 11th and boss Mick McCarthy will hope some funds can be found in January to help their injury hit squad. Away from Portman Road, they have lost three of their last four and seven of their last ten matches. These games are not full of goals with six being netted in total with Town only bagging one of these. Just two of the last eight Ipswich have played have gone over 2.5 goals and the same numbers apply to games seeing both teams scoring. Just five of the last 15 scored in their matches have come in the second-half.

Ipswich Town Team News

Teddy Bishop (unknown), Cole Skuse (knee), Tom Adeyemi (hamstring), Flynn Downes (calf), Dean Gerken and Tristan Nydam (both hip) are doubts. Luke Hyam (knee) is out for a few months while Andre Dozzell and Emyr Huws (both knee) are out for the season
