Fulham vs Bristol City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) fixture features two sides who will be expecting to challenge for promotion this season. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Fulham once again managed to draw a home game (five in seven now) and they were held by bottom-of-the-table Bolton 1-1. The Cottagers were on course for nothing from the match until Tom Cairney came to the rescue in the 94th minute and it would have been harsh on them if they got nothing from a tie they dominated. Bristol City continued their good start to the season with a 2-1 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Bobby Reid and Milan Djuric got the goals for the Robins that the expected goals data shows probably was harsh on the Black Cats. The away side won all three meetings between the duo last season (the pair also faced off against each other in the League Cup) and in fact the road team has won in the last five.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The home side are once again unbackable considering their tendency to draw too many games at home. Bristol City are no mugs on the road and I could not put you off backing them in the double-chance market but I have a few other bets I prefer. Given that just 33% of the goals Fulham have scored have come in the first 45 minutes and that the Robins can keep things tight on the road oppose the time of the home team first goal which is set at 42:00. In the same style of market around 60% of the Robins goals have come in the opening hour of a fixture and with their time of first team goal set at 58:00 I like the look of that.

No Fulham goal before 42:00

Fulham Preview

It has not been the start to the season that the Cottagers had expected with them stuck in mid-table with almost a third of the games completed. Their inability to convert draws into victories has been their main issue as seven of their 14 have ended all-square and they have lost just three times this season which is lower than leaders Sheffield United. At Craven Cottage, it is five draws from seven and this includes each of their last three and four of their last five. Both teams to score is a common feature which has happened in each of their last five with three of these ending 1-1. Ten of the 14 they have played in the league this season have seen a total of exactly two or three goals scored. Just 33% of their goals have come in the first-half and just 12% in the opening thirty minutes.

Lucas Piazon (broken leg) and Sheyi Ojo (dislocated shoulder) are close to returns.

Bristol City Preview

The Robins have put that defeat that to Leeds behind them with victories over Crystal Palace in the League Cup and Sunderland in the Championship. Ahead of the Aston Villa game they sit in fourth place and have taken 18 points from the 27 on offer in their last nine. Away from Ashton Gate, that victory over Sunderland was their third and they have lost just one of seven on their travels. The 12 away goals they have netted puts them joint top of the divisional road goalscorers. Their 22 goals this season has Bristol City as the joint third top scorers in the division while the defence is top ten after conceding just 15 goals. Bobby Reid has netted in three of the last five on the road while Aden Flint has netted in two of the last five on their travels.
