Fulham vs Brentford Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday early evening (17:30) fixture is live on SKYTV and features two sides in need of points in the promotion race.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Fulham made it four straight victories on Tuesday night as they defeated Reading 1-0 at Craven Cottage.  A 25th minute Stefan Johansen goal proved the difference in a match that the hosts deserved to come out on top in.

Brentford won their third straight in midweek as they picked a 1-0 success away to Nottingham Forest.  An 81st minute Henrik Dalsgaard goal proved the difference in a game the Bees were a little lucky to win.

The reverse fixture came in early December and it was Brentford who won that one 3-1 thanks to a goal each from Sergi Canos, Romaine Sawyers and Ollie Watkins.  Neeskens Kebano got the consolation for the Cottagers who also had Dennis Odoi sent-off.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Fulham are flying now while I would not be looking to take them on they are facing tricky opponents in Brentford who also need the victory and I could not advise backing the home team at those odds.

Both these sides score over 60% on their goals so backing the second-half to be the highest scoring 45 minutes make sense.  Stefan Johansen has netted two in his last four and looks worth an each-way interest in the first goalscorer market.

Fulham Preview

The Cottagers continued their remarkable run as they stretched it to 20 league fixtures without defeat.  They sit second with four matches remaining one point above Cardiff though the Welsh side have a game in hand.

At Craven Cottage, they have won 11 of their last 12 and are unbeaten in 13 with Bristol City on October 31st the last side to spring the shock.  Along with Cardiff they have conceded just 15 home goals which is the best record in the division.

In each of their last four Fulham have kept a clean sheet and on 14 separate occasions this season.  Aleksandar Mitrovic has nine goals since his January loan move from Newcastle with two in his last three.

Fulham Team News

Floyd Ayite (hamstring) is rated doubtful for this match.

Brentford Preview

It is now three straight victories for the Bees and five without defeat as they launch a late bid for the play-offs.  They are in tenth but just four points behind Millwall the side currently sitting in sixth place.

Away from Griffin Park, they have won their last two and three of their last four with that defeat coming at Millwall.  Not one of their last nine on the road has seen both teams find the back of the net.

None of the last five Brentford league games has gone over 2.5 goals with the last three all ending 1-0.  The last five goals involving the London side have come in the second-half with with the last three coming in the final 20 minutes.

Brentford Team News

Rico Henry (knee) is a long-term absentee while Florian Jozefzoon (ankle) is a doubt. Ryan Woods is available following his suspension.
