Fulham vs Bolton Wanderers Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) game features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Fulham suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss to Aston Villa last time out at Villa Park in a game that the expected goals data shows was a fair result. All the London side had to show for the game was a goal from Stefan Johansen. Bolton continued their unbeaten run to two games with a 1-1 draw at home to QPR in their last fixture. Wanderers took the lead through Darren Pratley but were pegged back in the 78th minute and a draw was about a fair result. The last time these two sides met was May 2016 and the London outfit won that game as they have five of the last seven between the duo. These meetings tend to produce goals with four of their last five going over 2.5.

Betting Tips and Predictions

For a side with one victory in six home games Fulham are far too short to be backing but I could not oppose them considering Bolton have done nothing on the road so instead I will be looking to the other markets. Given that the hosts have netted just seven times in front of their own fans this season and the visitors just once on their travels I don’t understand why under 2.5 goals is the outsider of the two options. I would recommend taking this in addition to no in the both teams to score market. This bet would have paid in each of the last five aways for the Lancashire side while the London outfit tend to be involved in both teams scoring they have hosted some of the higher scoring teams at Craven Cottage. For those wanting a little more for the price you can also considering combining these two options together.

Fulham Preview

It is now two without victory for Fulham though before that they were undefeated in three. Their performances this season have been mixed and a tendency to draw too many games (six of 13) means they sit in tenth and are nine points behind the automatic promotion spots. At Craven Cottage, they have drawn a lot with one victory, one defeat and four draws from six fixtures in front of their own fans. They have though had a difficult run of home fixtures and still must host all the bottom eight. The Cottagers do not concede many early goals and have been behind just once at half-time though have only been ahead on four occasions themselves. Stefan Johansen is in good scoring form with the Norwegian netting three in the last four in the league though these have come on the road.

Lucas Piazon (broken leg) and Sheyi Ojo (dislocated shoulder) are back in training

Bolton Wanderers Preview

After it looked they could be relegated by January the Trotters have suddenly found signs of life and taken four points from their last two games. They still bottom of the table (adrift of Sunderland by three points) but they will be heartened by the fact that many teams around them seem to be struggling. Away from the Macron, they have taken just two points all season and lost each of their last four to nil. They need to find a way to start scoring on the road as they have managed this just once this season. Goals in general are a problem with just seven netted this season which is the second lowest in the league while they have shipped 24 goals which is the third worst defensive record in the Championship.

Bolton Wanderers Team News

Derik Osede (groin) and Will Buckley (hamstring) are back in training while Aaron Wilbraham (hip) and Jem Karacan (personal reasons) are listed as day-to-day.
