Fulham vs Birmingham City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) game features two sides in the bottom half of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Fulham suffered a 3-1 loss at Griffin Park in a London derby against Brentford in their last match. It had looked promising when Neeskens Kebano gave them the lead in the 25th but they conceded three more and had a man (Dennis Odoi) dismissed. Birmingham had no answer for league leaders Wolves who were ahead after just eight minutes in their last match and that was the end of the scoring. The Blues would also have been frustrated to have had Harlee Dean dismissed seven minutes from time. The two meetings between these sides last season were both won by the Midlands outfit and by the same 1-0 scoreline. It continues a trend that has seen the London team fail to win any of their last five meetings.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Fulham are the most likely winners of this game but I could not be taking them at such short odds given that they have won just six of their 20 fixtures this season. Birmingham did well to restrict Wolves on Monday night and against Sheffield United claimed a point so this does not look a bet I would want to make. Under 2.5 goals looks a great bet here as none of the last four at home and just two of the last 11 for the hosts have gone over this margin while the visitors have seen none of their last nine go over. Sticking with this theme take NO in the both teams to score market and consider doubling these two bets together.

Fulham Preview

Just two victories from their last nine games means that Fulham are much lower than they would have hoped for and sat in 15th going into this round of matches. Four of their next five come against teams in the bottom six so they will hope to use this to start a run of form that moves them up the table. At Craven Cottage, they have won just two league games all season though they have won two of three entertaining the bottom eight (the other was a draw with Bolton).  None of their last four and just two of 11 in all competitions at home have gone over 2.5 goals. Six of the last eight goals they have scored have come in the first-half with four of these coming between the 20th and 30th minute. Oliver Norwood has netted in two of the last four though no Fulham player has scored more than four league goals this season.

Fulham Team News

Dennis Odoi will miss the game through suspension while Lucas Piazon (broken leg) and Floyd Ayite (hamstring) are doubts.

Birmingham City Preview

The return of Steve Cotterill has not brought the turnaround in fortune the Blues were hoping for and just four points in their last eight means they are now 22nd and in the relegation places.  They do though have a run of fixtures where Leeds (eighth) is the highest ranked of their next seven opponents. Away from St Andrew’s, they have not won all season but picked up a promising point at Bramall Lane last time out. A lack of road goals is a clear issue with just four netted with only Burton going lower with three. None of the last nine Birmingham have played have gone over 2.5 goals and four of these have gone under 1.5.  If the league was decided on scores at half-time then the Midlands outfit would be as high as 15th.

Birmingham City Team News

Harlee Dean will miss the game through suspension while Jason Lowe (hamstring) and Craig Gardner (calf) are doubts. Carl Jenkinson (dislocated shoulder) and Maxime Colin (hamstring) are out until the end of December while Isaac Vassell (cruciate) may not play again this season.
