Freiburg vs Ingolstadt Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Ingolstadt will be aiming to continue their push for survival in the Bundesliga when they travel to the Schwarzwald-Stadion to take on Freiburg on Saturday afternoon. Freiburg won 2-0 at home over Schalke 04 last time out thanks to a first-half brace from Florian Niederlechner. On the flip side, Ingolstadt were held to a 1-1 home draw by Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, although they took the lead in the 73rd minute through Sonny Kittel. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Both sides are in dire need of three points here, but for different reasons. Freiburg are currently on a three-game winning streak at home, while Ingolstadt have failed to score in their most recent two league trips. Freiburg are favourites to win here, but this is Ingolstadt’s last chance to secure their Bundesliga status, so I’m expecting them to be highly motivated and to grab all three points.

Freiburg Preview

Freiburg have been alternating victories with defeats recently, but they have enjoyed a decent run of form overall. They were thrashed 3-0 on the road at Darmstadt a fortnight ago but bounced back with a comfortable 2-0 home victory over Schalke 04 last time out. This lifts Freiburg into 5th spot in the Bundesliga table with 47 points under their belts after 32 rounds, just one point clear of the 6th-placed Hertha Berlin. They have great chances to play in the Europa League next season, as they need at least two points from the remaining two games. Their recent home form has been impeccable as they have won all of their last three home league fixtures, conceding just once in the process. In addition, they managed to beat Ingolstadt 3-2 in their sole home meeting with the Die Schanzer. Freiburg’s main issue throughout the season has been their sloppy defence as they hold the worst defensive record in the top six, conceding 55 goals in 32 league fixtures. Florian Niederlechner is the team’s topscorer with 11 goals under his belt, while Nils Petersen and Maximilian Philipp have bagged 17 goals and six assists between them.

Freiburg Team News

Georg Niedermaier, Mike Frantz, Havard Nielsen, Marc Torrejon Moya and Caglar Soyuncu are all doubts ahead of this clash.

Ingolstadt Preview

Ingolstadt, on the flip side, enter the fray on the back of a four-game winless streak in the Bundesliga, but they did well to secure two consecutive draws against RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen in their most recent two league outings. Ingolstadt are second from the bottom at the moment, just four points behind the relegation play-off place. A victory here will put them in a good position before the final game of the season, but a defeat will send them straight into the 2.Bundesliga. Ingolstadt have struggled at both ends of the field throughout the season, but their biggest problems have definitely been in attack. They have only scored 34 goals in 32 rounds, which is the 4th joint worst attacking record in the division. Almog Cohen is leading the club’s goalscoring charts with 7 goals under his belt, while Dario Lezcano has helped the team with five goals and three assists in his 31 league appearances. Ingolstadt's away form this season has also been an issue as they have only won four of their 16 league trips. They are currently winless in two league trips, scoring none in the process.
