Freiburg vs Hoffenheim Match Prediction

By William Hall

Winless Freiburg welcome high-flying Hoffenheim to the Schwarzwald Stadio this weekend in the Bundesliga. Freiburg come into this one having drawn three of their last four games while Hoffenheim have put back to back wins together against Mainz and Schalke. With both teams needing points for very different reasons, this game could shape up to be an entertaining encounter. Read on for a full match preview complete with all our best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Freibury are yet to win a game this season, and I can see that run being extended this weekend. Hoffenheim have looked very impressive this seasona and coming into this one off the back of a win at home to Schalke; confidence will be through the roof.

Start Striker Mark Uth has been in fine form so far this season, and I wouldn't put it past him bagging another one this weekend. With all of Freiburg home games being very low scoring this season, I can't see this one being a goal fest. They have had two 0-0's, including one of those against top of the league Borussia Dortmund. If they can put another performance on like that this weekend, there is no reason why they can't get another positive result, but for me, there is only going to be one winner this weekend. Below are my favourite picks for the game.

Hoffenheim to win - 21/20

Under 2.5 goals - 43/40

Freiburg scored over 2.5 goals in 5 out of their last 10 games played

Freiburg saw over 1.5 goals in 10 out of their last 10 games played against Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim scored over 2.5 goals in 5 out of their last 10 games played

Hoffenheim saw over 1.5 goals in 10 out of their last 10 games played against Freiburg

Freiburg Preview

Freiburg are yet to pick up a win in the Bundesliga this season, drawing four of their opening six matches. It shows they are making it very hard for opponents to beat them, but they have been able to find that edge to pick up a needed three points. Freiburg have been hovering above the relegation zone so far this season and will be looking to put a change to that this weekend. However, it seems a tough and daunting task against a Hoffenheim side who are taking this season in their stride. A lack of goals is wats hurting Freiburg this season, with the team scoring just twice in six matches. Freiburg have already been involved in three 0-0 draws this season, showing they are not the most entertaining side to watch in the league. However, when they have come up against the bigger teams in the league, they have been beaten and beat well.

Freiburg Team News

Freiburg have a huge injury list this weekend, with eight set to miss the visit of Hoffenheim. Here is the full list; Georg Nierdermaier (back injury), Jonas Meffert (foot injury), Vincent Sierro (muscle injury), Yoric Ravet (muscle injury), Amir Abrashi (ankle injury), Manuel Gulde (back injury), Marc-Oliver Kempf (muscle injury) and Yoric Ravet (suspension).

Hoffenheim Preview

Hoffenheim are currently second in the Bundesliga and playing with a lot of confidence. The side are yet to lose a game this season, winning four and drawing two of their opening six games. On paper, they should further that run this weekend, and for me, they will do it easily. Hoffenheim have beaten teams both at the bottom of the league including the likes of Werder Bremen and Mainz, but have also been able to see off last seasons Champions Bayern Munich, showing they are really up for challenging this season. Mark Uth has been the sides biggest threat this season, already scoring four goals in just six matches. It is a great comeback from the 26-year-old who last season scored just once for the Hoffenheim second team.

Hoffenheim Team News

Hoffenheim also have eight out this weekend with Benjamin Hubner (muscle injury), Florian Grillitsch (gastrointestinal discomfort), Nadiem Amiri (foot injury), Robert Zulj (hip injury), Sandro Wagner (ill), Serge Gnarbry (thigh injury), Ermin Biackcic (knee injury) and Kerem Demirbay (groin injury) all sidelined.
