Freiburg vs Hertha Berlin Match Prediction

By William Hall

Freiburg welcome Hertha Berlin to the Schwarzwald Stadion this weekend in Bundesliga with both sides looking to bounce back from defeats. Freiburg were smashed last time out as they visited the Allianz Arena to play Bayern Munich. It is one of those games every season you don't expect to win, but to get beat 5-0 will not be good for the confidence of the players. Hertha Berlin have one just one in their last five Bundesliga matches and come into this one off the back of a 2-0 home defeat to Schalke. A reaction will be wanted this weekend, but with confidence low, at the moment they could be in for another shock scoreline. Read on for a full match preview complete with all our best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Freiburg have won just one game coming into the game this weekend but have been unbeaten at home in their last eight games stretching back into the last campaign. I think they could extend that record this weekend with Hertha Berlin firstly struggling to score many goals which is obviously stopping them from winning games. If Hertha Berlin are to get the win this weekend, they need to perform a lot better than they have the last few games because even though they are a weaker squad quality wise, Freiburg always gives sides a tough time when at home. Neither teams have been getting on the scoresheet much recently which makes me think this could be a quite game in front of goal. Here are my favourite betting tips and predictions for the game.

Freiburg Preview

Freiburg comes into this one off the back of a thumping away to Bayern Munich which would have given them a bit of a hit to the confidence. However, before that, they ran out 3-2 winners over Hoffenheim which is the performance they should be looking to repeat this weekend. It proved that they aren't just in the league to make up the numbers and can compete with the stronger teams in the league on a weekly basis. A lack of goals has stopped the side climbing up the table with the side scoring just five in eight games, and three of those came in one game. They currently sit third from bottom in the league, but one win could take them as high as 10th which would be huge for the morale. The majority of Freiburg points come on home soil and have been unbeaten in their last eight at the Schwarzwald Stadion.

Freiburg Team News

Freiburg have four players out this weekend with Amir Abrashi (ankle injury), Jonas Meffert (foot injury), Vincent Sierra (muscle injury) and Manuel Gulde (back injury) all sidelined. Georg Niedermaier (back injury) and Marc-Oliver Kempf (muscle injury) are back in training and could make a return to action this weekend.

Hertha Berlin Preview

Hertha Berlin are one of the bigger names in the Bundesliga but have been unable to live up to that so far this season currently sat 13th on the table. They have been able to win just one game in their last five and come into this one off the back of three games without a win. I thought they would push on after bagging a point against Bayern Munich a couple of weeks ago but after the defeat to Schalke last time out, I am starting to worry for them. In truth, I think they should have enough to go out and get all three points this weekend, but with the form low and the lack of goals, they could be in for a more robust game than they should make it. Vedad Ibissevic is yet to get a goal this season after bagging 12 last campaign. He needs a goal to get him season up and running and this weekend could be the one.

Hertha Berlin Team News

Hertha Berlin could be without seven this weekend with Genki Haraguchi (suspension), Vladamir Darida (knee injury), Thomas Kraft (calf injury), Sebastian Langkamp (calf injury), Maximillian Mittelstadt (broken nose), Valentin Stocker (knee injury) and Julian Schieber (knee injury) all out, although the Julian could make a return this weekend after training with the squad this week.
