France Preview

France had an up and down World Cup qualifying campaign and due to their recent inconsistency, they still need a victory on Tuesday in order to secure the top place in group A. Their recent run of form has been disappointing as after a shocking nil-nil draw against the minnows Luxembourg, they only managed a narrow 0-1 away win over Bulgaria on Saturday. The only good news is that France have kept a clean sheet in their last three qualifying games. Despite their consistency throughout this World Cup qualifying campaign, France still hold the best defensive record in the group, conceding just five goals in nine group fixtures. They still sit at the top of the group A table and they need to beat Belarus in order to finish this campaign at the top of the table. At home, France have only lost once in their last eight fixtures across all competitions, but the bad news is that they have failed to score in three of these. Olivier Giroud and Antoine Griezmann have been France’s most dangerous players in front of goal throughout this qualifying campaign, as the pair bagged six goals and four assists between them.

France Team News

Paul Pogba, Laurent Koscielny and Benjamin Mendy are all missing through injury.

Belarus Preview

On the contrary, Belarus have nothing to play for and come into this tie on the back of a three-game losing streak in this World Cup qualifying campaign, including a 1-3 home defeat at the hands of the Netherlands on Saturday night. This leaves them only in 5th position in the group A table tied on five points with the bottom-placed Luxembourg. They looked terrible in front of goal recently, having scored just once in their last three qualifiers. Actually, they have the worst attacking record in group A, scoring just five goals in nine rounds. Pavel Savitskiy has been Belarus’ standout player throughout this campaign, having helped the team with two goals in his five group appearances. Their away form in this campaign has been terrible as they have suffered defeats in each of their four qualifiers. Actually, Belarus have lost five of their last six away games across all competitions, and the most worrying fact is that they have failed to score in six of these. Head-to-head, Belarus are winless in the last four meetings with France across all competitions since a 0-1 away victory back in September 2010.

Belarus Team News

There are no fresh injury concerns for Belarus ahead of this visit.
