Fiorentina vs Bologna Match Prediction

By William Hall

Fiorentina kick started their season with a bang last weekend, and on Saturday they play host to Bologna in Serie A looking to start a winning streak of sorts. They won 0-5 away to Hellas Verona, while their visitors for this Saturday went down 0-3 at home to Napoli. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Fiorentina haven't lost any of their last six matches against Bologna, and that streak includes five wins and just one draw. Both matches ended in 1-0 wins for La Viola last term. Fiorentina should once again be considered big favorites at home, and they should be able to follow up that big win last week here.

Fiorentina Preview

Fiorentina did not get their season started as well as they would have liked. A loss away to Inter Milan was not wholly unexpected, but a 1-2 home defeat to Sampdoria would have been more than just a little annoying to those faithful to the club. With fingers pointing in different directions and questions being asked, the team responded last Sunday to hammer Hellas Verona 0-5 away from home to show that they might not have slipped off as much as we were led to believe. All the more encouraging for them is that five different men found the back of the net for them. It all started with a 2nd minute goal from Gio Simeone. Cyril Thereau doubled their advantage after just ten minutes from the spot, and they took a 0-3 lead into the break thanks to a 24th minute Davide Astori strike. On 62nd minutes, Jordan Veretout had them four up, and after 89 minutes Gil Dias had completed the rout.

Fiorentina Team News

Fiorentina has a major plus in that they have no injuries or suspensions ahead of this game. Expect to see more of the same from them as their system seemed to work very well in victory at Hellas Verona last time out with both Simeone and Thereau starting and scoring big goals.

Bologna Preview

Bologna have been decent enough to begin the season this time around, but there is still little proof that this is anything more than lower mid-table side. A 1-1 draw at home Torino was a decent result, and it was then followed on by a 0-1 win away to newly promoted Benevento in the second week of the season. All the good that had been built up came crashing down a little last weekend when they lost 0-3 at home to Napoli. Few would have thought they stood much of a chance before the match, though, so all is not lost on them. They held out for quite some time, in truth. It took 66 minutes for Napoli to find their goal via Jose Callejon. Bologna stuck around for a while longer were in the game up until Dries Mertens scored in the 83rd minute. Any and all hope was then squashed five minutes later when Callejon teed up Piotr Zielinski to give the visitors a 0-3 lead.

Bologna Team News

Bologna will have to make do without the likes of experienced right back Vasilios Torodsidis, defensive midfielder Erick Pulgar, attacking midfielder Cesar Falletti, and striker Felipe Avenatti due to injuries. Center back Domenico Maietta left the match with Napoli early, and he looks to be a doubt here.
