Feyenoord vs Go Ahead Eagles Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Feyenoord will be aiming to extend their lead at the top of the Eredivisie table when they welcome Go Ahead Eagles at the Stadion Feijenoord on Wednesday night. Feyenoord were narrowly beaten 2-1 on the road at Ajax at the weekend, with their consolation goal being scored by Michiel Kramer in the stoppage time. On the flip side, Go Ahead Eagles fought back from one-goal down to secure a 1-2 victory on the road at FC Twente thanks to two second-half goals from Sam Hendriks and Marcel Ritzmaier. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Although they have lost the last two meetings with G.A. Eagles, Feyenoord should be able to grab all three points in this one as their home form throughout this Eredivisie campaign has been excellent. They are undefeated in 14 home fixtures in the Eredivisie so far this season and are currently on an eight-game winning streak across all competitions. In addition, I’m backing Feyenoord to score a couple of goals here, as they have netted at least two goals in seven of their last eight home competitive fixtures.

Feyenoord Preview

Feyenoord’s two-game winning streak in the Eredivisie ended at the weekend, as they suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat on the road at their eternal rivals Ajax. They were completely outclassed by Ajax, as the Amsterdammers had over 20 goalscoring opportunities and a superior 57% ball possession. This was their second defeat in the last four league outings, after losing to Sparta Rotterdam a month ago. The Rotterdammers still sit on top of the Eredivisie table, but they now just have three points more than the second-placed Ajax. Feyenoord’s secret for their good performances throughout this Eredivisie campaign has been their prolific attack, as they are the division’s topscorers with 69 goals in 28 rounds. Nicolai Jorgensen has been outstanding throughout this campaign, as he is currently leading the Eredivisie’s goalscoring charts with 19 goals and 10 assists in his 28 league appearances. Jens Toornstra, Dirk Kuyt and Eljero Elia have also enjoyed a decent Eredivisie campaign, as they bagged 25 goals and 19 assists between them. Their home form has been impeccable so far this season, as Feyenoord are the only unbeaten side in front of their own fans after 14 league games. They have won 12 and drawn two in the process, having scored 43 goals in this term.

Go Ahead Eagles Preview

On the contrary, Go Ahead Eagles have finally returned to winning ways in the Eredivisie last weekend thanks to a narrow 1-2 away victory at FC Twente. Prior to this win, the Eagles were on a five-game winless streak in the Eredivisie, having conceded at least two goals in four of these. They still sit in 17th spot in the Eredivisie table, but they are now just two two points behind safety. The Eagles’ main issue throughout this Eredivisie campaign has been their sloppy defence, as they hold one of the worst defensive records in the division with 49 goals conceded in 28 rounds. However, Go Ahead Eagles looked a bit better on the road over the past four months, having lost just one of their last six away games in the Eredivisie. The most interesting fact is that the Eagles have won their last two meetings with Feyenoord in the Eredivisie, having scored two goals while conceding none in the process. Sam Hendriks is a player to watch for the Eagles, as the 22-year-old striker is currently leading the club’s goalscoring charts with 7 goals in his 20 league appearances.
